Absolutely miserable

This weight loss was unintentional

It’s a result of better digestion and or less irritating foods

So even with better digestion
And less inflammation
I feel..not good

Irritable
Fatigued
Unmotivated
Anxious a wee bit too

Something said to be fat and happy

Hx: was underweight from age 15-43
Restriction
Over exercise

Healed by refeeding
And
Following Peat’s writings/teachings

Then
Lost weight naturally
But still had very very verrrry poor digestion

Now
Three years later
I’ve changed my food choices
And or
My metabolism, being healthy again, naturally HEALED my gut

And here i am

Hungry
Losing weight
And a bttch

Temps good
Skin good
Nails good
Sleep good

But
Weight loss is absolutely a stressor for me
The symptoms just a few weeks in are quite undeniable

To those trying to lose weight
Digestion
Along with your metabolism of course
Is key

I clearly fixed my metabolism first
Now
Digestion moving strong
**I believe this is due solely on my metabolic health and needs being met**

But this took time….

Am I right or wrong?
Have any of you experienced this?

I think so many users leave the forum once well
So we don’t have a lot of data here

Would love to know your thoughts.

Sometimes over time the metabolism increases further and requires more calories and nutrients.

I agree

Which first do you believe?

Ive concluded
I ate more
Ramped up the old metabolism
Got hormone levels back up
And
Hence
Digestion kicked in

You?

You?
That makes sense to me.

How many calories are you currently eating on a daily basis? (roughly)

Varies

Id say an average of 2300 kcal daily
While healing more than double that

Need to slowly ramp up
Im hungry
But not overly so in a stomach kinda way
It’s simple energy
And feeling that im moving into a stressed state

No exercise btw

Thx for your input

Eating enough is highly underrated here

Im 49
Female
5’7”
Haven’t stepped on a scale due to my messed up hx
But
Im what the world would consider as healthy thin
Hourglass shape
If that helps you….

Working theory is my digestion is better because my metabolism and hormones are optimal

But what i changed diet wise is very little meat now
Verses before
I ate and ate beef and pork
Craved it
Mostly eggs and fish now

And no raw fruit
I went to freeze drying and it’s better for me

Root vegetables
Lots of sugar
Mostly juices and cokes and tea

I experienced weigh loss after 1 1/2 years of refeeding but in my case, everything got better after losing the weight I gained, though, it seems my experience with refeeding was different from yours. It didn’t work out well for me, but letting go did. Consuming foods based on the ones I actually enjoy, and the amount I actually craved, i.e., not force-feeding to hit a minimum of calories set by some “expert” who doesn’t know my needs, helped me heal. Ray talked about how thoughts can affect gut permeability so the added stress of basing my diet on other people’s theories only worsened my digestion, and since healing, I no longer experience hypoglycemic episodes so I don’t feel cranky now when I’m hungry. Going by the members I’ve spoken to privately who were struggling and are no longer active here, I think along with getting well, we lost forum members because the stress of basing their diet on theories, even Ray’s, didn’t work out well for them. I have found that some, like myself, do better following their intuition more and other people’s theories less.

so you felt better on meat, but lost it while being off it?
Re freeze drying - do you mean frozen fruit from the frozen section in grocery stores or do you free fresh fruit yourself? there is no guaranty that frozen fruit is ripe...

Same
Huge

again
I followed no one
Only years after - someone said it sounded like Matt Stone
Whom I’ve never heard of

diet on theories, even Ray’s, didn’t work out well for them.
I don’t believe Ray has a diet for anyone to follow

I felt better on food
Any food
But clearly needed the protein and whatever else meat was offering while i refed

You can buy freeze dried fruit
Ingredients: only fruit
Or buy a dehydrator

Im not here to recommend any particular food
Ever

Im here to kinda publicly problem solve where im at now
And I believe
Im reaping the fruit (no pun intended) of a healthy metabolism on my gut
Years later

Verdict is out

Good stuff everyone!

I was super lean, muscular, and regimented prior to Peat. I started feeling unwell due to my obsession with fitness and fighting my body with fasting and caloric restriction. My hands and feet started getting super cold and I started to gain weight, pre-peating.

Then I discovered Ray and started Peating (as much as I understood of it). I continued gaining weight and sadly never managed to lose it significantly.

Everything feels better. Energy levels, sleep, intestinal function, temps, pulses (sitll a bit low), mental capacity, etc....

Everything improved except weight. I am pretty darn heavy now at 210 lbs standing 5'6''. I am a muscular male, but there's a lot of lard on me.

I dropped a couple of pounds when I started taking thyroid but I might need to take more... I just worry about increasing my dose since I live alone, but must muster some courage. Pulse still dips in the 40s during sleep (but that's an improvement from 30s).

That's my experience so far (8 years or so)....

That’s what I had gathered the last time we spoke about this topic. :)

No, he had theories and some don’t do well basing their diet on theories. He told me in February of 2015 the diet he recommended to people, but I got the impression that he may have used it as a starting point, then tailored his advice to fit a person’s context.

No dairy?
Very astute of u

Dairy while healing

Became a literal impasse for me

I do cheese and milk
But only cooked
Pizza
Grilled cheese
Etc

I would LOVE to eat ice cream again

Maybe when im more confident in my digestion

Example:
I would drink a Mg Citrate to help go

Bottle says urge to go in an hour maybe?

It took me three days
Three days
And this was post refeeding
