For migraine, it seems like pregnenolone is good too if you haven't tried it first.
jyb, is this from experience, or studies that show it can help, or from a more general principle that pregnenolone is good for brain energy? I have not had access to it so far. I think i need a prescription to get it, so if I have something to point to it might improve the odds of getting some.

It's from experience. It's also from theory, since it (and progestone) is a precursor of allopregnanolone for the brain. For headache, from experience I rank it higher than cyproheptadine. Also, although cypro seems safe compared to other pharma drugs, pregnenolone is more fundamental. You can order some from HealthNatura, it is apparently as good quality as the old version of Beyond a Century.

Take care, pregnenolone has given me headaches. I think it's either bad ingredients or something like what niacinamide does - boosts you and your blood sugar can't keep up. My experience, anyway.

Has anyone used cyproheptadine for a longer period (6 months) of time continuously?

My experience with Cyproheptadine

An update on my Cyproheptadine experience. Previously i posted that i had upset stomach
with very small dose of cypro .5 mg. Few other people here also mentioned similar
experience. I tried twice before for 1-2 weeks and both times lot of symptoms
improved dramatically, but had to give up cause of stomach problems.
Third time's a charm. It's been 10 days and using half a mg daily and feeling
really good and very mild stomach problem. It seems like the tolerance
depends on individual state of intestine health. It is quite magical that tiny amount
of cypro having such a beneficial impact.

Congratulations on your succesful stint with cypro.

How does the sedative side of things feel now? I started another trial yesterday, but took 4mg as a first dose. In all honesty, it is nowhere near as sedating/disabling as mirtazpaine, but, the sedation was still significant. Mirtazapine is truly crippling in the early stages of use, for me, to the point where I will literally sleep for 16 hours (and still think I can do more, if it wasn't for forcing myself to get up).

Just wondering whether that dissapears, and does it dissapear to the point where you don't no longer notice it?

One benefit I did notice, was that I often get a form of restless legs in the evenings where I can't stop shaking my feet really quickly. Can be extremely annoying to another person who might be sat next to me. This can sometimes last hours. Cypro annihilates this annoying habit of mine.

I read somewhere (perhaps this thread?) that RP says not to take any drugs long term, as you run into side effects. I think he's right. No drug has ever worked for me long term, but cyrp but be nice for very occasional use to help with sleeping.

I haven't read up the thread here recently, Mittir,
so sorry if you already have mentioned this,
but...what were you using the cypro for,
what were the benefits you note?

I also have a general question to those who use and understand this drug. Do you think it could have a positive affect on treating focal dystonia? VEry generally, this is a movement disorder that no-one knows much about treating. Sort of a trash can dx. Any help is appreciated.
Here is some info on hand dystonia-http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Focal_dystonia

I avoid supplements and med mainly because i get bad reaction to
most of those. My focus has always been food. I really did not need it.
I used to have breathing problem and following RP it went away .
I get problem only when i deviate from diet or sleep deprivation, like 2-3 days of
fried food will cause me to have breathing problem.
I think PUFA was the biggest factor in my breathing problem.
I am quite sure i have high serotonin due to sensitive intestine.
RP has mentioned gut-serotonin is the main cause of asthma.
Main benefits is that i am breathing much better and it is fuller.
I can get away with inadequate sleep and wrong foods.
There is this extra calmness, strength, tolerance and resilience.

Now i am using 5 supplements ( in order of benefits):
Thyroid: Some fish head soup , mostly chicken neck soup and a little bit
of synthetic thyroid I am slowly replacing thyroid med with head-neck soup
Niacinamide: 100 mg 2-3 times a day
Cyproheptadine : half mg daily
Vitamin D: single monthly dose of (100,000-200,000)
I get mild allergenic reaction to this vitamin D, but goes away in 2-3 hours.
This way i am lowering daily ingestion of allergens or impurity.
Vitamin E Daily 400 IU. Plan to increase it more for a short time.

Awesome. What have you noticed/benefited from the cypro?

Vitamin D in a single dose? has it benefited you vs taking some everyday?

As I wondered about Mittir's walloping monthly dosing of Vit D,
my take is that he is extremely careful about supplement impurities.
Thus the rare dosing.
If he must have the vitamin, he will limit his exposure to impurties also to once per month.

I guess D stores in the system (fat?) for that long...

Thank you Mittir for that wonderful analysis and tour of your Peat Life ;)

I have already mentioned the benefits of cypro in that post.
I used to take 2000 IU vitamin D daily and i did not feel any major shift but if
i stopped that for a month or two i saw a decline in general health.
When i take large single dose, i feel an immediate improvement.
Most noticeable one that i feel much warmer. My guess is that
single dose vitamin D i use has better quality, these are mostly prescribed by doctors.
I used Carlson for daily use and when i tried to rub it on skin, it did not feel right.
I am also trying to minimize exposure to allergens and excipient by taking single dose.
I have read that supplemented vitamin D has a half life of about 2 months.
Fat soluble vitamins have higher half life than water soluble vitamins.
