My brother has psoriasis and depression since he was 15 and now he is 27 years old, I see him very sad and nervous about everything, I would like to help him, please how can I solve his problem ...

he was always extremely athletic until his 20s, at a high intensity level and daily

You'll see a big change in mood with protein and vitamin C. Amino acids and vitamin c help produce neurotransmitters. Also googling methylation cofactors it's very important you include these things.

Meals
many recipe ideas on here, find what's suitable for him, what he likes with cooking level etc.

Daily walking or stairs for exercise

Bowel Cleanse
Magnesium citrate empty stomach away from meals
Peeled carrot
Coconut oil
Activated charcoal

Favorite drinks- water is boring
Lemonade with sea salt and sugar
Coffee with cream, sugar, salt
Whole milk with 1/3 coffee

Also since I'm an amateur in psychoanalysis, many people with depression and anxiety turn to athletics because they like the feeling of an adrenaline rush it brings them out of that hole. They can push themselves to injury very quickly. However adrenaline addiction is very dangerous because it can shift into many different outlets notably intense pornography and chronic masturbation - deathgrip syndrome nearly to the point of injury - hard flaccid and other pelvic pain syndromes.

Best to sit down with him face to face and find out what you can do for him.

Psoriasis is tied to gut/inflammation. He probably eats starch (pasta, bread, etc)? I would avoid any wheat products for a start.

And then the obvious things: correcting thyroid, correcting diet in general, it will do a lot for his mental health. There's lots of information to start with on the resources page and FAQ (Resources + FAQ - Ray Peat Forum Wiki).

I agree with @boris on that it's gut related. He's either eating gut irritating foods (gluten, lectin, starches, etc) or have excess gut bacteria and fungus or even a parasite.

Eliminating problematic foods most often completely resolves skin and mental issues.

Unfortunately no supplement works as good as food itself. He'll have to eliminate some stuff and see if it helps. If it helps that will motivate him to continue.

His ideal diet would then be, Meat, Milk, Fruit juice, and fruit, white and cane sugar

A daily carrot

and 3 x coal in the week?

I'd add in organ meat and honey as well, but that looks great.

hans, can i reintroduce starch (potatoes, rice and manioc) after a period?
Yes, but symptoms might come back or not, depending on if pathogenic bacteria have been dealt with or not.

If you read nutrition book by Pitts, he says many autoimmune diseases come from eating too much grain, pasteurized dairy, conventional meat or junk in general.

He needs to heal gut and the best for that is gelatin and collagen.

As other said, he needs to change the diet.

Squash, gourd and pumpkin are good for gut.
For depression, chocolate milk can bring temporary relief

A short, sharp course of cypro would possibly do wonders for him. It cleared up a longstanding rash I had on my shins and ankles, all but proving for me the deep connection between gut and skin. It should also help lift his mood. If he's never taken it, the standard advice: start super small, and build up to maybe 2-4 mg a day for a couple of weeks tops. If he gets drowsy, tell him that will pass after a few days and to up the coffee. If his day is too impacted by the 'zombie effect' of cypro, he can just try one small dose at night. Tell him not to be scared of it, since chemists dish out entire boxes of the stuff in 4mg tabs.

Ultimately though, I think working on gut health would be hugely beneficial for him. And find a kick **** therapist who knows about childhood stuff, the true cause of depression (no, it's ultimately not a metabolic issue as some folk round here would prefer to think). Depression is healthy in its own warped way - it's a siren song from the soul that something aint right and desperately needs attention. To take nothing away from the difficulty of it.

I wish him well .

PS also re SIBO - look into B1 (dig around on this forum for some amazing research), Haidut's camphor product and/or activated charcoal
