"Hyperthyroidism" is not synonymous with well-functioning thyroid. Dr. Peat as spoken about this several times including his own personal account. The stress factors that are
part of hypothyroidism can also be seen in so-called hyperthyroidism. One is not necessarily the opposite of the other. To simply say T3 can raise estrogen is looking at T3 in a vaccum without considering efficiency.
