I think the key is trying whatever Peat has suggested. After all, why not trust an expert enough to follow what they find has worked for them? That is what I did when doing zero carb, etc., until I became convinced it wasn't working for me, tweaking it along the way to try and make things work. However, I think that being open to the fact that for example, niacinamide might be the cat's meow for one person, while for the next, it may be deleterious, is important. It doesn't mean this outcome is engraved in stone. To me, it just means that you are willing to explore other options to find what does work. And in this case, after having tried TONS of OJ, sugar, oranges, etc. along with my egg, b/c I assumed I wasn't doing enough, and having the same negative result, I am finding that I do better without it when eating the egg. And that's okay.

Well, feel great again today. Had slightly odd sleep. Been sleeping deeply and without a problem. However, I am not tired until like 10:30 or 11ish sometimes now I wake up anywhere between 6 and 8. Last night, wasn't tired till like 10:30 and woke up at 5. Slept with the light on, but I am not sure about this one yet. I asked questions re: this on one of the light topics for more specifics. Seems sort of counterintuitive to sleeping nicely, but I am willing to try it and see what happens. Will see how I feel today.

Also, I am upping my dosage of B1 to what Haidut had suggested. I have not been doing the amount he was using simply b/c I couldn't find capsules with more than 100 mg. and it is irritating to have to take a million of them. But today I started cracking open the capsules and pouring them in a glass and downing that with some water. SERIOUSLY BAD TASTE. But manageable and easier than swallowing all those stupid pills. Also, after a few days of pills sitting in throat, (i.e. magnesium), I am now chewing those. Also highly unappealing, but I don't have things sitting there stuck anymore.

Will be interesting to see how the B1 works for me.

My husband got more liver for us, so this time, I spent some time looking things up, and figured, like 1/8 of a pound will give us about 700IU, and we can do this multiple days a week. Now I am fairly confident that I am not up in my A's as I have the flakey-ish scalp (although it is much improved since Peating--seemed to get worse for a bit then better now), but I want to make sure we are absorbing it. It is of course, easier, to just eat larger amounts at once, but I don't think this is as beneficial. So I divided it up into very small amounts, like maybe less than 1/8 of a pound, and will just cook that for us daily. Doesn't take long. I would rather get the nourishment daily. Thinking about skipping my eggs today since I had some liver, although it wasn't much. Also, may take a break from the oats and stick to ice cream at night tonight to see how this feels in comparison to my night snack of oats. Still no issues from the oats. Interesting, too, b/c prior to Peat, if I ate oats, I would have immediate allergy issues: sniffling, mucus buildup, and sneezing. Now, no such effects. And I have no aches this morning despite my raw eggs. So I think I am on to something.

Also, I am still figuring out the OJ dilemma. On the one hand, I felt it was beneficial to drink OJ, even if it wasn't fresh squeezed, etc. But the more I have thought about it, and am still experiencing it, I don't see the advantage in drinking this juice if it is put in vacuums, has weird chemicals added to it, stuck in weird containers, etc. So, for now, I think I am going to stick to buying unpasteurized which I drink in very small amounts, and eating oranges/tangerines. I do feel better when doing this. It is much easier to find tangerines that are sweet than oranges. And I am not certain that doing a great amount of fruit actually makes me feel that good. I think I feel better doing sugar/honey in milk/coffee/cocoa drinks instead.

Last, I have been doing lots of coconut oil in my oat concoction, and having no problems with it. I don't like it plain. It reminds me of when I was eating piles of it plain to do the keto-type diet. I LOVE eggs. Probably will have more today.

Did my two whole eggs in my "nog". Milk put in the frother, start frothing, drop in the eggs, salt, honey, and turn off. I don't let it get warm. It just mixes everything. I love it this way. Super easy. Now I am all set on protein from just the liver, gelatin, milk, and those 2 eggs. I am liking getting lots of my protein in as early as possible. Also, liking the idea of starch/sugar/fat at night with only form of protein being gelatin or milk.

Took about 1500 mg B1. Don't notice anything. yet....

New-ish super yummy concoction I just made:

started with my oats (which I have been doing successfully each night as my "meal"--I might have a bite of meat if it looks appealing, but am pretty much sticking to sugar, starch, and fat. I find having protein in the early morning in particular, as much as possible, feels the best.

Oats
butter
coconut oil (lots and lots of it-less butter, but still a good amount)
some shredded carrot (using a peeler)
honey
baking soda
salt
GELATIN!

all done in a frying pan
so I melt the coconut oil, put the shredded carrot in--not very much at all-maybe two tablespoons worth)
then put in the oats, salt, baking soda
then honey (tastes great in this)
THEN, I got the idea tonight to toss in some gelatin powder (we have unhydrolyzed) b/c
I was wanting it to be chewy like a cookie without baking AND to get some gelatin in
WOW! It made it sticky, clumpy, caramely and DELICIOUS! I bet if you used brown sugar with this concoction it WOULD taste like caramel. If I had some raisins, I probably would have thrown a few of those in. (although not sure how those would work for me, as dates didn't work so well)

It was so yummy! I get no bloat whatsoever from eating this. Prior to this, I was doing the concoction without carrot, without gelatin, and then with chocolate melted in. I love it. Potato was totally unappealing to me, so this worked out great. I do fine with starch after all; just needs NOT to be a nightshade.

Also, I thought the B1 didn't have any effect. WRONG. Tried it today; definitely noticed things. Also, after reading literature about how niacinamide has been successfully dosed for anxiety with more frequent lower doses of whatever amount the person is taking, I tried this. BAD IDEA--at least this morning. I had my old level of panicky anxiety starting, and instead of taking 1500mg at once, like I have been doing, upon rising (will knock out a normal person perhaps, but not me), I took 500mg. Had to take 1000 later, and then another 500 before I felt better, and I did indeed feel better. I have Solaray right now, but I got 500mg amounts of B1 by Nature's Way, and I have one of my intuition-feelings about it; I prefer this. So I may even get the Nature's Way in niacinamide prior to finishing the Solaray to compare. I have my test approaching to think of, so if something works better for calming effect, I want to be taking it sooner rather than later.

Anyway, my appetite in general has been vastly diminished over the past few days. Perhaps normalizing on this way of eating? Not really doing anything different except eating eggs regularly. I am back to buying juice, but only unpasteurized. I think the other stuff is all s--t; if I buy one orange, it is like a dollar. I don't like eating fruit. It's a pain and I don't want the pulp. So I think it is more economical and more nutritious for me to just buy unpasteurized until I get a better handle on things, and if I find I am able to buy a lot of oranges for a reasonable price, AND can get on board with juicing (don't want to now), then I may juice. Unlikely though. Seems like a pain.

The b-vitamins and the whole vitamin a thing from eggs, liver, butter seems to be huge for me. And I am definitely going to go back to taking 1500 mg. in one shot of niacinamide each morning, and I may take more during the day depending on my nervous energy levels.

Oh, also, I know people on here talk about fat/lower fat/ etc. I am finding that adding some nice amounts of saturated fat, via the coconut oil in my oat concoction, butter, and then a bit of coconut oil throughout the day, makes me feel very satisfied and sated in a way that wasn't happening with simply milk, oj, etc. Cheese is just not that great for me. I don't think it's like the egg where I just had to overcome some challenges; when I eat it, my tongue gets really white, and it makes my breath not great. And it is expensive for how little you get and a hassle to find the right one. Generally, I don't feel it is effortless to digest, whereas the oats, eggs, milk, etc. is no problem. Same with fruit, although I don't feel bad from it. I just don't feel good from it, either. So I am over it (cheese, and fruit) for now.

I don't do full-fat milk, bc I just don't like it as much. I used to, but now one percent tastes the best to me. Skim tastes nasty. But I am not worried about getting enough fat b/c I am getting LOTS AND LOTS from all the coconut oil, ice cream, butter, chocolate, that I am consuming.

Cocoa powder has also proven itself to be iffy. Get bad breath from it. Bad sign. NOt from chocolate though. A tiny bit of cocoa powder is okay, but adding more than that is a problem for me. I think enough fat is super important. I didn't have to worry about this before starting Peat, but I massively reduced my amount of fat with all that drinking of things, until I started my oat concoction. It feels eating-disordered to have to just eat piles of coconut oil plain, like I used to to get enough fat, so making a "cookie" out of it and butter actually tastes nice. Also, I am certainly not inhibited in my amount of ice cream and I look damn skinny. Not bad, but definitely skinny. The only time I felt heavy was after eating the potatoes, and it showed up immediately, so I think what doesn't work appears as "flab" b/c it is not digesting properly. That is my very un-scientific hypothesis. THANK GOD FOR NIACINAMIDE!!!! Even if I take enough to knock out a horse just to calm me down!

Today have had lots of B1. And niacinamide. Will see how that goes. I think I am sick of oats. Probably going to skip it tonight. That's also a good sign--in the past, when I "liked" anything, I would become compulsive with it and obsessed. Not so, now.

I am not really liking coffee lately, but am still doing some. Also, I am not really wanting things sweet, but am doing this as well, b/c it does seem like the coffee works better for me if it is a little sweet. Did core body exercises today. Slept with the light on. Wish someone could actually explain the point or not point of this--unclear to me still. Especially, if you cover your eyes, then what is the point? I just don't get it.

Appetite is still kind of minimal. I always pack in protein and breakfast in the morning though I am not "hungry." It's not unappealing, but I don't feel its helpful for my energy and stress levels to eat later. Not too exciting, but that's it for now. No anxiety today. However, I have consumed substantial amount of niacinamide in two doses. Not sleepy. Feel even, clear, alert, without feeling jumpy.

Uggh, always one more thing. Improvements: I used to often feel this sense of hunger-like feeling even when I had eaten. Like never feeling quite sated, or feeling totally overfull. Do not feel that anymore. Don't obsess about food. Don't care so much about goodies, just getting proper nutrition. I don't sit down with my ice cream and mindlessly go into a coma, only realizing the carton is empty 10 minutes later. However, this is ALWAYS what I would have done in the past, which is why I couldn't have any of those foods around.

Another plus, though I am still skeptical that it is a fluke. My lips seem to not have the disgusting dry flakey bits on them that I always have to scrape off. Chapped, I guess is what you would call it They appear smooth and without this. Why? Vitamin A from the liver? From the eggs? It went away right after I started eating eggs. Was already eating liver, so I am wondering if it is the eggs.

Still needs improvement: my energy levels. Everything still feels like it is shifting and balancing.

There is DEFINITELY something to the B1. I will not even say how much I took-A LOT! But eventually, I noticed something. I had my husband ask me things I never remember, and I answered every question WITHOUT HAVING TO THINK HARD about it. My geometry went really quickly. There was some input that if I wasn't noticing anything, it might be that I did not need it, but I doubted that very much as my main complaint (besides the panic/anxiety) is memory issues, brain fog, and having to "try" very hard with the cognitive tasks. Again we are not talking about average things, which I don't have to think much about, but more advanced cognitive aspects which seem to require lots and lots of this "trying" till it wears me out to get the high results I want.

I think I am VERY low in B vitamins in general, and A, and have sustained some serious deficits bc of this so I am glad I did not assume that not feeling something was because I didn't need it. I read some things today that gave me the idea that one can be so low in some areas that you don't feel anything at first. Anyway, I definitely feel I am on to something. Just the fact that I can take so much niacinamide and not feel drowsy--why not the same thing with the B1? Whereas someone else instantly feels a rush of energy, it takes much more of it for me to notice anything. Niacinamide does not seem to be very helpful for me unless I do minimum 1500mg. and today it was 3000. However, I may not need it at all soon, or maybe just a little. I am open to that. I basically take it until I feel good inside. That is the best way to put it. When things feel as they should, that is how I know it's enough. May not make sense, but it seems to be working.

Started off with 500 mg. of niacinamide again in hopes that would be plenty. Nope. Took 1000 an hour or so later. Also, I "notice" the B1 more quickly today.

I am really wondering about the whole eating of fruits thing. I posed this question, but then saw there were similar ones, but yet none really answered my thoughts. Esp. after Dutchie commented on MY commentary about not eating fruits, I started wondering that perhaps I am missing the larger picture with the fruit eating. But again, if we are to avoid pulp, and it takes lots of oranges to get the benefit of juice, then why would we eat the fruit? Is this for energy? Instead of sugar or honey in our milk? I would love if someone could enlighten me with some positive effects they find from eating fruit in addition to drinking it.

I don't want to be a horse's **** and assume "fruit doesn't work for me." But so far, it hasn't been clear to me why when it takes a lot of effort to find fruit that is ripe, and oranges seem the only viable option around here, I would want to eat them as well. I haven't noticed any benefit from doing this, and didn't miss it when I stopped so again, perhaps I am missing some larger picture here. Would love to know what that is...I STILL do not understand why eating solid fruits would be beneficial if people go to all the trouble of straining pulp. And it also isn't clear to me IN WHAT QUANTITY Ray Peat eats solid fruits or WHAT QUANTITY solid fruits are recommended IN ADDITION TO juice. Hopefully someone can offer some wisdom here....

Ok. I have some answers. It is not my imagination I don't feel good when eating fruit. I am not going to do it. Banana, when I have tried that, gives me a stomach ache and makes me feel BAD. Oranges just do not give me a positive energetic feeling, though the effect isn't deleterious like that from banana. I am going to stick with the juice. I think the fiber in fruit is what doesn't work. This is why I don't like vegetables, which I NEVER eat.

As for my B1 vitamin, BINGO! After taking it for a week and a half, and just several days at higher amounts, I finally am noticing it. This morning, after a double dose, several hours apart, it set in. I was able to complete complex problems that were stumping me last night (of course, I was tired) in like 10 minutes. This IS WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT! I am not delusional; I can feel that my intellect is keen, but submerged, as though there are blankets on top of it. Now it feels that information, words, concepts, show up as a whole unit.

This is interesting b/c one of my deficits (conducted by a learning specialist, etc, testing for learning issues) is spatial relationships. Forever I have been confused by left, right, up, down, directions, etc. That is why numbers, chemistry, etc. has been much more challenging for me. What happens is that when I see these things, I can't see a whole picture. Everything looks fragmented to me It is as though a picture starts off clear and integrated, and when I look at it, it becomes dissolved in fragments, strips, and the essence of. This IS VERY FRUSTRATING. Which is why I had to take a break from school and re-learn how to learn in the way that works for me. But I do believe this is not permanent and that I am improving. And I think the proper nutrition is helping to correct that. Perhaps I was just born this way, or maybe it just became apparent because I notice when I don't understand things and tend to make comparisons, which is always a losing battle. Anyway, I feel like I am coming out of it, slowly, but it is happening.

I am not expecting perfection, but I do want continual improvement.

Bananas are pretty notorious for being upsetting and hard to digest so maybe you should give some other whore fruits a try. I was doing only juice for a while but have since switched to eating about half whole fruits. After having avoided fiber for so long and reintroducing it, I can tell that it makes me feel better by improving transit time and estrogen excretion. I'm so glad i don't get strong stomach cramps, bloating, and gas anymore from eating whole which is why i stopped in the first place.

I'm glad you're seeing results. Are you just taking thiamine and niacinamide right now? I'm planning on trying B1 soon. Lately niacinamide has been crucial for relieving my anxiety among other improvements.

hahahaha. That's funny! Sleezy fruits....makes me laugh.

Well, FUNNY you should ask b/c I feel like "Ask and it will be answered!" I was tlaking to my neighbor about my orange dilemna (i.e. finding organic, juicing, etc. price) and she had these limes sitting there her husband brought her from a tree growing where he lives. So I took those, put sugar in after squeezing them, drank it, and WOW! I LOVE lemonade/limeade! This would be much easier to find organic and simple to squeeze. I think what I am going to do, is either buy the fancy 10 dollar organic unpasteurized stuff and use a SMALL amount mixed in with my lemonade concoction, or find organic oranges if I can for a normal price and squeeze them. (Less likely. It ends up being more expensive, but I have a new store to look at tomorrow). I know people are less concerned about organic since you are not eating peel, but if I am having something that often, I don't want pesticides in it. ANYWAY, the lemon thing WOULD BE SO EASY! It is much less expensive, and while it is not the same level of nutrients as orange juice, if I mix it with a bit of the orange juice, that should be sufficient. Also, I FEEL MUCH BETTER when drinking the lime/lemon concoction. So I am pretty excited about this. I would rather ALL of what I drink be organic. And I would rather squeeze the majority of it myself. This will solve my issue.

I know I got off topic, InterrogaOmnia, but like you experienced, niacinamide has been crucial for me If I had to pick only one supplement, THAT would be it. B1 is fine. Good even. But niacinamide is crucial. I also am doing one B complex pill (it is half a "serving)) so I only get 5mg of B6 b/c Haidut mentioned I should do it if I was doing big amounts of the others.

I have not found ANYTHING like the niacinamide that was so apt at changing my nervous states. Nothing. Not meditation, or sleep, or food. Niacinamide is the cat's meow as far as I"m concerned.

On the fiber front, I feel quite good from my oats. No problems whatsoever. Zilch. Zero. And last night I got some white jasmine rice to try. Have some lead with your rice. Whatever. NOt going to worry about it. Since I am doing well with the oats, I figured I will try the rice.

The banana has been awful each time I tried it. It can't just be fiber, b/c there is fiber in the carrot, in the oats, etc., and it hasn't bothered me. I feel BAD when I eat it. As in drained of energy. And I get the stomach ache.

Oh, here is what I made last night that was SUPER YUMMY. I added oats, coconut oil, which I was too lazy to melt, so I just mushed it around with my fork, some of my lecithin-laced chocolate, honey, salt, one egg, and baking soda. Baked it. YUMMY. Had that with glass(es) of milk. Actually, I think the oats digested better baked like that. And it gave me new ideas about the egg. maybe mixed in and baked, it digests different for me. Like it does with ice cream. Just doesn't do so well for me just thrown in a pan and cooked.

I am pretty excited about my lemon-discovery. This solves my whole fruit issue in terms of accessibility and economy. Mix that in with fancy organic unpasteurized OJ and I"ll be all set. I much prefer the lemons over the OJ. And the added sugar or honey makes the combo perfect.

Yeah, I have no idea how my phone autocorrected to that. But it made me grin when I noticed it later.

That's awesome. I actually haven't made my own lemonade/limeade once since I started peating, but now I want to hah. I was a pretty big organic stickler before I started Peating, but I've had some financial troubles these past few months and have had to suffice with less organic. I only buy grassfed meats and also grass fed or organic milk when I can, but I drink so much, it is too expensive to purchase every time (I used to drink raw milk prior to peating). It's about the same with fruit too, I buy what I can afford. Organic sometimes, other times just regular. Fortunately I have a brand of organic unpastuerized Orange juice called "Evolution" nearby. It's only $6.50 for 64 oz. I have not found an organic orange juice of that quality. It tastes 95% like I just juiced it myself and it has great seperation.

I feel the same about the niacinamide. I have syptoms of HPPD and often get very depressed, anxious, and feel disassociated with the world around me. Taking 1500-3000mg a day has been a life saver. I recently started spraying my own magnesium oil on my chest, back, and shoulders and have gotten further relief. My shoulders are more relaxed and becoming less shrugged + more calmness in general. I really want to give B1 a go, but it probably would be a good idea to have a some of the other B's too to prevent potential depletions like you said. As far as I know, Niacinamide doesn't have that effect, but I know some people have wondered about it. What B1 and Complex are you taking? I'm currently making my own niacinamide capsules.

At one time when I was dabbling back and forth with paleo dieting and fruitarianism, I would eat entire bundles of bananas at one time. OMG, it gave me the most intense stomach cramps and filled me up like a balloon. Lets just say the gas was ridiculous... But I was really out of touch with myself then, because virtually everything made me feel like ***t. I sometimes eat a banana or two with no problems now though.

That does sound tasty. I often make concotions like that from time to time, just mixing up random things haha.

OH, SO MUCH GOOD INFO HERE FROM YOU!!

Cool that you mention Evolution! Like minds! I saw that at overpriced Andronico's (local market in the area) and I have been wondering about it. Same thing there is like 10 bucks. Yup. Everything there is priced like several dollars more. You made me want to try it.

Like you, I am very conscious about spending. However, I have been thinking lately that I would rather have less quantity and organic than the regular stuff. So the lemon combo would make this possible. I had it this a.m. Love it. Easy to prepare, and I do really well with sugar. I put a splash of OJ in it from the gross market. It was unpasteurized but they really have bad quality foods.

I would never buy grassfed milk, etc. simply b/c as you mentioned, it is super expensive. That is not the same as OJ, which I drink infinitely less of. I get the organic stuff at Trader Joe's which has added vitamins and don't worry about it I have no problem digesting it. It is absurd to even think I would spend that much extra for milk, especially since there are two of us drinking it. Meat, I think, is more important. We get it at Whole Foods and do not get grass-fed, but the quality is still better than at a supermarket, for sure. I am not eating very much meat anymore anyway. I used to get cheap meat when I ate a lot of it, but after eating Whole Foods meat, or just any higher-grade brand, the regular store stuff tasted completely disgusting.

What magnesium oil do you use? I would love to know...I told my husband about this and when we were at Rainbow, this SUPER hippyish natural food store, the person working in the vitamin section raved about this Magnesium gel. That was not what I wanted. My husband hated it b/c it was sticky. What do you notice with it? Anything different than with the pills? We take glycinate version which does not have a laxative effect.

I fully appreciate the fact that we must buy what is affordable. That is why this whole orange thing has been stressing me out. After learning what they do to pasteurize it, to remove pulp, I have been grossed out. But everything in the Bay Area is very expensive, so it is not particularly easy to find oranges that are organic AND ripe AND affordable. Hence, I like your idea of the Evolution.

What is HPPD? Really, I could take or leave the B1. It is fine. But the niacinamide has been invaluable. Today I made myself immediately go downstairs and take 1500 mg. at once this morning when I woke up. Much better. No lag time between waking and the whole nervous energy building thing. I really became deeply afflicted by anxiety only when I started school. This is not to say I didn't have this aspect, but I learn very differently, so traditional schooling is very stressful for me. That is when all my issues were really accelerated b/c I burned myself out from studying for a million hours on end, not sleeping, and being constantly anxious.

You know, for a while we lived in Hawaii, and the bananas there had a very different effect. They are called apple-bananas, they are ripe and small. I think there is a difference and those digested very differently.

Where do you get your niacinamide? I am going to experiment with a different brand, the Nature's Way, once my Solgar runs out. You said you make your own capsules. I just take one B complex b/c of what Haidut mentioned. I wouldn't bother if he hadn't mentioned that. Just one more pill to take then. The complex is, I think, by Garden of Life, but I would take any one I could find. That is just what my husband picked up and it was crazy expensive. I would just get the Solgar next time or nature's way as long as it is possible to take the 5 mg, and the amount isn't too high.

That is really funny about your phone doing that. I just laughed when I saw it.

How's the rest of your diet? What are you doing (eating) currently? curious minds want to know...:)

Latest on new food update:

Rice digested fine.

I do have some theories on weight though, bc I notice people are often wondering about the combo that will at least not accelerate weight gain. As I mentioned, I am prone to immediately showing bad or good effects, so I am a good guinea pig in terms of what food does.

This morning I woke up and looked like I dropped 5 pounds. What I did different: one TINY bite of meat. Got at least 60 or so grams of protein in gelatin alone within quick succession. Only one egg yolk. MORE sugar. No ice cream. And rice with lots of coconut oil and a little butter. I don't digest butter as well, so I need to do less of it.

I think that more liquids, seem to be the easiest way to maintain weight or reduce if one is going in that direction. What I am not sure about, though, is the ultimate effect on cognition, energy levels, etc. I DID notice that I in fact, felt lighter, and had a higher level of more intense energy. I also noticed after eating the rice that I felt less "satisfied" not too long after. I didn't have very much-maybe a 1/4 of a cup, with like 5 tablespoons of coconut oil. I had my oat cookies with milk, not long after. I think those are my favorite. I do think that ice cream, if one is trying to lose weight, may not be optimal in very large amounts.

Again, it is subtle, but I definitely notice a difference today. However, I am not going to guide my eating based on whether I get a better six-pack with or without the food; I am just noticing. I will do what feels best for overall energy, stability, and focus. I am really not sure why eggs seem to be so challenging to eat but they are. I still find them very helpful but it is interesting that a reduction in them immediately leans me out. Perhaps, I digest just a single raw yolk better and then another later. Or maybe it is about taking breaks where I don't have any on some days. I will have to play with that and figure it out...

After that note about eggs, I tried 3 yolks raw today. This time, I did it with very sugary strong coffee (instant) with milk. Again, I think the key is the digestion of it, and since Ray's OJ trick does not help my digestion of it, and neither does supplemental magnesium, etc., I am going to see if the sugary strong dose of coffee alongside it works. I will know that it has if when I wake up tomorrow, I don't look bloated-ish--when my abdominal area looks similar to what it does when I don't eat any eggs at all. Will see...definitely feel the brainpower is helpful from the yolks. Feel that effect pretty quickly, but just need to figure out how to digest these suckers effortlessly.

Organic grass fed milk goes for $6 dollars at my health store, which is very reasonable. I also used to get raw milk for $5 a gallon and and one point I was buying it for $2 a gallon... But after a while, it started to make me feel sick every time I drank it, so I just stopped. Plus I wasn't a fan of driving out of my way to nearby farms so frequently. Regular 2% milk digests just fine for me and the added vitamins don't bother me either. I usually only eat the lesser quality meat if I'm staying at a friends and am craving it, but unlike milk, a lot of the toxins end up in the meat and fat, so I try to limit that. Grain finished or at the very least pastured is still more or less ok in my book. Anything that is better than crammed muddy feed lots I guess.

I just make my own with magnesium chloride hexahydrate mixed with distilled water in a spray bottle. Using it this past week pretty liberally has reduced some of the discomfort in my rib cage and right shoulder blade. I also rub in onto the muscles around my eyes and feel that it has reduced some of the strain there. It seems to keep my left eye from twitching. Honestly, other than trying to eat plently of mangesium rich foods, I haven't used anything other than magnesium oxide which is not well absorbed apparently. Overall the spray seems to have a nice calming effect.

Hallucinogen persisting perception disorder. It entails a pretty broad spectrum of problems, and there is some debate over it. I have a lot of 'snow' in my vision and have a had small hallucinations at times. Basically, years ago I tried lots of different hallucinogenic drugs, and smoked excessive amounts of marijuana every day for a year and a half or so while having deeper issues. I personally feel that the 'snow' was always in my vision, but experiencing so many different states of mind made me ultra perceptive of these things. It is only when I'm depressed or anxious that I become more conscious of it. When I'm thinking that way, it's as if nothing is real anymore and it scares me. Taking huge doses of Niacinamide makes makes life feel "real" again.

Yeah, probably any fruit that isn't heavily farmed will be easier on the stomach aside from the effect of different varieties.

Purebulk.com ~~ Yeah my capsules hold about 1000mg of niacinamide, so I scoop them into the powder and make them with virtually no effort resulting in the cleanest possible supplement.

Currently? Just pretty basic peat stuff I guess. Probably something like half a gallon of 2% milk or less when I feel like eating boatloads of cheese haha. I eat 3 egg yolks for breakfast and have like 5-8 oz of liver and oysters every week. Once or twice a week, I eat a bit of good ol' beef. Apart from that, pretty much unlimited fruits or other sugars until I feel satiated -- mandarines, regular oranges, dates, grapes, cherries, apricots, juices, honey, white sugar, etc... I'm pretty fond of mexican coke too now after having not drank soda for years. I cook with coconut oil and butter, but eat pretty low fat in general. Very little starch. Unfortunately, I keep forgetting to make use of my hydrolyzed gelatin.

The only other thing I supplement is D3 and I make sure to get a fair amount of salt. I also use 750 watts of red light occasionally.

HI InteroggaOmnia,

That is great the niacinamide seems to help with some of the issues you experience as a result of the HPPD. Thanks for explaining what it is and how it affects you. Sounds like you have a great diet! So don't do any starch--I think I remember you saying potato makes you feel bad.

Interesting about the grass-fed milk and your reaction to it. WOW. That is a great deal for the raw/grassfed milk. If it were that cheap here, I would definitely buy it. But like you, two percent works just fine for me. I might try whole milk at some point, but for now, the 2 percent is fine. One percent is fine also.

I think it is probably a "cleaner" way for many to eat if not including starch. I definitely can feel that, but sort of like it for pleasure's sake. However, not enough to eat potatoes, which make me ache when I eat them. I may try them again, but so far, they weren't a big hit with my body and I wake up feeling dull the next morning.

How do you take the niacinamide-as in what dose? I am curious whether you find it more effective to take it in larger doses at once. That is what I've found when I felt like I needed more of it.

I wondered about the perceptual aspect you describe, in a controlled form, being constructive and creative as well. Obviously, feeling detached from reality may not be helpful, but I was wondering if what you describe, when it is not overwhelming, acts as an enhanced state and perhaps even brings greater clarity for you when it is not out of control...Just curious. Sounds like you have been very constructive about trying to help yourself back to a state of balance. I kind of feel like improvement is the name of the game--why not try to better things since we are here for a "while" anyway? I guess the key is doing so with enthusiasm and a friendly detachment--not apathy, but a lightness of being--makes me think of Milan Kundera "Incredible Lightness of Being". Been a long time since I read novels.

On the egg front, it is hard to tell exactly what was the effect of the eggs b/c I did baker's chocolate after reading about Cliff's comment re: having better reaction to baker's chocolate instead of cocoa. Well, I have a bit of an allergic reaction: it is the type where I feel like I have a tickle in my throat. Funny too, b/c I felt much better eating the sugary chocolate from Fresh and Easy with the soy lecithin. No bloat, so that is a good sign, but I will not be doing baker's chocolate again. Just goes to show you that what someone else does may or may not work for you.

I will have to see how I fare from the eggs tomorrow. I did two yolks. Probably won't do three. Not in the mood. But I do think drinking lots of sugary coffee with it (not lots as in amount, but lots as in sugary enough) seems to help with the egg digestion.

Also, my great plan for OJ was foiled. Couldn't find decent lemons. They were expensive for the amount. Oranges, both organic and conventional at the two stores I went to, looked bad. I bought an organic "flash pasteurized" OJ that was a dollar more than the unpasteurized and separated the way it does when it's fresh squeezed but when I opened it, it tasted funny--like artificial. So I returned it and just got the unpasteurized, but it (at Fresh and Easy) tastes lower quality than the one at Trader Joe's. I strained out the pulp when I got home. I will have to look for lemons elsewhere but didn't feel like driving all over the place to find them. Also, there is the brand Santa Cruz organics, which has organic lemon and lime juice concentrate, but I would prefer to just find fresh. Will see about this.

I kind of feel neutral about the white rice I had the other day. It seemed negligible; didn't seem to provide me much good energy. Not bad, but not great. Better than potato, but so far, oats have been the best.
