There was some testing by FDA and USDA done on various products and they all found at least one type of gum in the products. You can safely assume that anything known to improve homogenization and shelf life of product will be added if the law allows it and it is in amounts that do not require reporting. The only products that would not have it are non-homogenized milk and those products are very rare. Whole Foods has just one, from some local farm, and all the fat is at the top of the glass bottle. So, given that all other organic brands are perfectly homogenized and the fats does not accumulate at the top even then they are cooled suggests they all most likely have some type of gum in them.

The gums can be part of the vitamin additive blend, they aren't there to de-coagulate the milk fat. The fat mixing evenly through the milk is a result of the homogenization, not the gums which will still be present in any milk that has added vitamins , which federal law mandates is present in all non-whole milk. (Thanks again big brother!)

Frustrating stuff. One of the easiest things about peats advice/eating regimen is the accessibility and affordability of milk. Yet another example of mainstream food manufacturers disregarding everybody’s health once again.

Yes, this is what I have always thought about the issue. The vitamin blends can contain gums, magnesium stearate, or carrageenan depending on what vitamin blend they are using. The amount of these additives is extremely low, but still enough to trigger an allergic reaction in a few people I bet.

I followed up and asked them exactly what is in the vitamin blend added to their milk.

“Propylene glycol, Polysorbate 80 and Water. They are in our product at parts per billion levels, very low.”

Riiiiiiiight. Of course they will say that. In other words, we add toxic crap that should not really be in any food but rest assured it is low. But we won't give you a COA, you have ti trust us on this.

I think you may be right about MPC's not being added to milk. But, milk solids are a common additive. Here is an article about the usage of the additives.
Not your grandma's milk

Interesting. I don't think this is the case in Canada, but I could be wrong.

Maybe I should think about getting a cow again... It would be nice to be in control of my food.

from the newsletter that just dropped an hour ago (already read it. Where's my patreon page? :p )

"Silica is widely used in spray drying foods, including milk, to prevent clumping of the powders."

If you decide that milk has to be a major part of your diet because it’s good for you, it would be congruent to move to a state/country where raw milk is available.

You cannot have pasteurized & homogenized milk as the major liquid of your diet and think you’re going to be fine forever, it’s pro-inflammatory.

Do you have any evidence for this claim? Peat feels pasteurization is fine and homogenization is literally what your own digestive system does with HCL. I think the benefits or raw milk are way overstated. There's no evidence that it is any better than pasteurized. And if anything, in some cases it can be worse if somebody is trying to decrease endotoxin.

Actually, I get most of my carbs from sweetened milk, Pepsi/Coke and OJ. As much as I like to eat fruit, getting access to good, ripe type is not always convenient while OJ/soda/milk is everywhere.

I don't understand why you'd eat dry milk? 1) It has much more oxidized cholesterol and advanced glycation endproducts than regular milk (pro-aging, pro-atherosclerotic) and 2) you miss one of the chief benefits of milk, which is clean filtered water.

What about dates?
This too. You can get plenty of ripe seasonal fruit in dried form. I don't understand Haidut's justification of Coke within the context of improving health either, even after years of reading his posts.

Can you explain what you mean by oxidized cholesterol and advanced glycation endproducts?

I think Coke add some quick easy calories if you are undereating for some reason, I try to get all the vitamins and minerals, then fill the tank with empty calories if not other options.

Hi Georgi,

Do you have no issue at all with your teeth on such amounts of sugar?
Mines get sensitive from orange juice alone.
I’m very much hesitant to introduce too much sugary drinks in fear of cavities.
