the limits with red and orange light

It would be better to get a 1500 watt or 2000 watt incandnet bulb and dim it using a special dimmer that didn't pull the full load. If you dim it you produce less heat less blue more red and orange.

Since producing heat is the same as producing infrared, it seems conterintuitive that it would produce more red and less infrared, considering that they are next to each other.

Also, why would a dimmer be better than the amber uv filter?

j you produce much more red and orange. More red and orange the better. If you use the film you block out blue but you don't get that better wavelength. better of to cancel out the blue by dimming it and producing more red and orange . also the bulb would last for 20 years roughly.
