Hi Ive read through a number of threads and am still unsure as to what is the best led red light source.
I am looking for tissue healing, thyroid activation, and hair preservation.
I am thinking about these and would like to see if anyone has any experience with them but am open to suggestions/recommendations
thanks

for thyroid and deep tissue I am looking at

Why would you buy redlightman? Their products are marked up 500% or more.

Also don't get that $60 RubyLux, get a LED grow light at the same wavelength and wattage for a fraction of the cost

The redlightman devices have better wavelengths and you know what type of power density you're getting. I've looked at and tested some of the infrared CCTV illuminators (they're not all the same parts). I have had good results with an IR/CCTV light, 48 LED type, with my knee pain. I think that maxed out at 95mW/cm2, glass off and solar meter touching a diode. I've seen a couple of positive reports with those and thyroid too. The RLM red mini device should be good for skin up close. To replicate some of the hair relevant studies would be very difficult with any of those devices.

Do you know of 100W red led devices like the ones from RLM for a fraction of its price?

do you have any recommendations for grow lights?

what brand light did you test? the Redlightman mini 630 nm gives off 110w/cm2 so its not too different but you get a broader coverage area with the Aweek esp the 96 led.

I'd see those as different devices though really, one for skin and one for deeper (IR).
I have tested the devices on these pages. I think perhaps even if you bought the same device the components may be different though. The adaptor could change output too. I used adaptors I had lying around.

I used that flashlight maybe 5 minutes per day for a few months and it failed. It's not so cheap when you include the rechargeable batteries and charger. This one looks interesting on paper too, but you've really no idea what the power output will be until you test...

thanks Sucrates.
As far as hard numbers go I found this evaluation on resonantfm that gives output measurements. (I am sure this has been posted before) Red and Near-Infrared Device Tests.

Based on their eval. this one gives out the highest output.@850 nm
Amazon.com : MicroMall(TM) New And High Quality Water Resistance Night Vision IR Illuminator Light Built-in 4 PCS IR LED Silver : Camera & Photo
Univivi U03R WideAngle 90 Degree 4pcs High Power LED IR Array Illuminator: Amazon.co.uk: DIY & Tools

"+200mW/cm2 – This maxes out the reading on the TM206 at 4-6 inches with the glass cover on, that means it’s above 200mW/cm2 at that distance and significantly more right up against the glass"
the 760 nm and 830 nm redlight man IR mini is less at 200 mW/cm2 at 10 cm
plus this is $14 bucks plus charger

fyi the grow light LEDs are too spaced out for good output.

@Dan Wich was the one who first discovered this one and sent it to resonantfm. I am curious what your experience with it has been.

I meant to post that link @x-ray peat . I haven't used that one much, when I tested it I had already had good effect from the 48 LED panels. For that use I would have had to move the smaller one (above) around a few times I think as it has a smaller surface area. powered

I just realized that you are behind resonantfm. Thanks for all the great info on that site.
I was looking at some of the studies and for at least the Traumatic Brain Injury study they used a power density of 22.2 mW/cm2 for 10 minutes. The small one I posted above maybe too powerful.
So I take it that you like the 48 diode CCTV light the best. I am wondering if you liked the 96 led one as well. I know its less powerful but its larger surface would help cover larger skin areas with less applications.

There are so many studies and seemingly contradictory information. There was a study using infrared on human skull showing only a few % or 500-750mW passed through, that makes me doubt there is a significant amount of light getting to brain tissue at 22mW. There could be other mechanisms feeding from the skin perhaps. Ray has said red light is very important for progesterone, which is useful for TBI.

I said 48 LED earlier but I meant the 96 LED, the rectangular faced one. I have used that the most because of the size and shape, it's easy to use lying down, propped on a few pillows. I do 10-15 minutes either side of my knee. The others might be better for other spots, you can even hold them in place with a cheap mic stand. I think between 50 and 250mW/cm2 the main issue then becomes ergonomics.

I agree. i was very surprised that they were getting results with such low power densities.
I do like the 96 for ergonomics but would like a bit higher output. Have you looked into the 198 led or 114 ones. They seem to have much better reviews as far as reliability goes and it looks like the pictures from field tests are much brighter.

I don't use that intense 4 LED one much (I got lazy about my main use for it, trying to get some 850nm light through blankets/sheets while sleeping). But it's at least still working after hundreds of hours of use. One of the 96 LED panels started dying after a similar amount of time, although I definitely got my money's worth from it.

Thanks Dan. After reading some surprising results from 808 nm lights Careful Where You Put That. Red Light On Testes Could Be A Problem
I decided to get this one recommended by @encerent. Amazon.com : ABI 12W Deep Red 660nm LED Bloom Booster Grow Light Bulb for Flowering and Spectrum Enhancement : Patio, Lawn & Garden
Those IR bulbs may penetrate a bit too deeply for my liking

I was wondering about using LED strip lights. Any comments ? Will it satisfy dosing parameters ?

or

DIY like this

It will cost more that what the video indicated because of using a different strip light as opposed to the infrared. I've also seen strip lights that are @ 660nm or was 630nm.

TIA

I like the canopies, you get full body and can use it lying on bed while enjoying a relaxating state at the same time.
