Sure its fluorescent tube but they're totally safe... at least while you won't crash the tubes haha. They have a very high output for whole body coverage, and the point is that they offer a benefit for full wellbeing beyond a localized spot effect. I mean for red light, not IR.

There are many canopies and tube manufacturers out there. Im looking for models and prices yet. This is from Cosmedico.

Those peaks are insignificant, and I think a spectrum that won't be a fixed nm wavelength is more subtle a offers a wider range of benefits.

I was wondering about using LED strip lights. Any comments ?

When last I looked (1-2 years ago), those strip lights ended up being significantly more expensive per watt than panels (the type with the LEDs directly on a circuit board). Maybe the relative prices have changed in the meantime though.

I went Red Light purchasing crazy recently, so thought I would share some of my setups. I got 3 of the 12 watt ABI and a three socket floor lamp so I could get red light exposure while watching TV or whatever on the couch-

I also got one of those led grow panels and hung it over my desk at work. I work in a bizarre writer's room, so no one even asked what it was for. Instead, I got several complements for making the place look more like a brothel-

(looks a lot more red without the camera flash)

I also got the mini Rubylux, which is good for targeted work to raise testosterone, since it doesn't get warm at all (I think we know the area I'm referring too). Also got some of the infrared devices that I'm trying out on my knee, and stomach.

Thinking of getting some Brooder Lamps for a cheap Sauna setup, but can't figure that one out just yet (location wise in my apartment).

Good stuff. Any idea how much benefit you get from having the lights so far away from the body. I could be wrong but I think most studies were done with the led right on the skin.

I was wondering about using LED strip lights. Any comments ? Will it satisfy dosing parameters ?

DC12V SMD3528-600-IR InfraRed (850nm/940nm) Signle Chip Flexible LED Strips 120LEDs 9.6W Per Meter
DC12V SMD3528-600-IR InfraRed (850nm/940nm) Signle Chip Flexible LED Strips 120LEDs 9.6W Per Meter [HK-F3528IR60-X] - $9.90 : LEDLIGHTSWORLD.COM

or

DC12V SMD3528-600-IR InfraRed (850nm/940nm) Signle Chip Flexible LED Strips 120LEDs 9.6W Per Meter
DC12V SMD3528-600-IR InfraRed (850nm/940nm) Signle Chip Flexible LED Strips 120LEDs 9.6W Per Meter [HK-F3528IR60-X] - $9.90 : LEDLIGHTSWORLD.COM

DIY like this

It will cost more that what the video indicated because of using a different strip light as opposed to the infrared. I've also seen strip lights that are @ 660nm or was 630nm.

TIA

Seems like a lot of work that may not be any cheaper than the pre-made grow lights. Also keep in mind the good wavelengths are between 600 and 900nm, depending on what you want to do. The strip with the 850/940 nm seems a bit high.

you can specify that you want 850nm strip or 940nm strip but not both.

Not sure, and only been doing this about a week. The smaller devices I do use close to the body for short periods of time (2-10 minutes or so). My guess on the light panel at work is that it's a tiny fraction (say, maybe 5%?) of the effect, but I usually end up under it for a couple hours. The ABI lights seem to put out more light than the grow panel, and are much closer (about 2-3 feet from my body). I sit under them for about an hour or so at a time, often using the other devices simultaneously.

I plan on doing some testosterone blood tests at the end of the month (got some other tweaks I'm doing), so I'll try and report any noticed changes at that time.

I have the 12 led 660nm similiar to yours. Until I can figure out how much energy its putting out in mW/cm2 I am only using it for a minute at a time and 30 seconds for testoterone.

I also have the 114 led 850nm which I use for deep tissue maybe 1 minute at a time. Curious to see what changes you get.

DC12V SMD3528-600-IR InfraRed (850nm OR 940nm) Signle Chip Flexible LED Strips
120 LEDs per meter
9.6W Per Meter
3 LEDs per 1 inch
LED size 3.5mm by 2.8mm each
$20 per meter

DC12V SMD5050-300-IR InfraRed (850nm or 940nm) Tri-Chip Flexible LED Strips 60LEDs 14.4W Per Meter
60 LEDs per meter
14.4W per Meter
3 LEDs per 2 inch
LED size 5.0mm by 5.0mm each
$24 per meter

My only concern will it satisfy the dosing parameter.

What is attracting me to this option is you can customized a panel to the size of your liking. for example make a panel of your height and width hang it up in your bathroom. It is actually easy to make you don;t even need to solder because you can buy strip connectors then just plug it in to the electrical adapter.

are you getting a solar meter ? please let us now once you figure it out. I am planning to get those ABI lights too.

Are the 24w version of the ABI lights an overkill ? Also, ABI lights has a version of those in 620-630nm ?

Thinking of getting 3 ABI lights, 2x 660 and 1x 620-630nm.

I am not sure that solar light meters measure single wavelength red light correctly. Not sure though but for IR you need an IR meter.
I think the 12w is plenty but I use it directly on me. Holding it at arms length away the light is still very strong with eyes closed.

any comments in regards to this 850nm Illuminators ?

Without any reviews I would be warry. Some of these are really cheap and break down in a few months. I bought this one and am very happy with it.
Amazon.com : CMVision IR110 - 114 LED Indoor/Outdoor Long Range 200-300ft IR Illuminator With Free 2A 12VDC Adaptor : Infrared Motion Detectors : Camera & Photo

Even with the glass on it still heats up my skin within a minute or so so I know its powerful enough.

If you target areas with high bloodflow, you can achieve a systemic effect while only targeting a small area.

See the following article where a number of inflammatory cytokine levels are normalized after shining a light on the lower back:
Pro- and anti-inflammatory cytokine content in human peripheral blood after its transcutaneous (in vivo) and direct (in vitro) irradiation with pol... - PubMed - NCBI
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/16706691
The sacrum has large arteries and veins running through it.

In this study they decreased the size of atherosclerotic plaques in rabbits by shining the light on the ears of the rabbits. Rabbits have very large ears compared to body size as a means to dissipate heat, indicating that they probably have high blood flow to these areas.

Anti-hypercholesterolemic and anti-atherosclerotic effects of polarized-light therapy in rabbits fed a high-cholesterol diet. - PubMed - NCBI
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/22474473
I think to get a good systemic effect you would want to target an area that had high blood flow but thin skin, with the vessels not covered by fat or muscle. Maybe the sides of the neck would be good for this.
