    Interesting article that makes a lot of sense, especially considering most men have theirs in total darkness all day.

    Some of you chaps must have tried this?

    Summary:
    • - Testicles produce testosterone and sperm.
      - Direct red light therapy here increases testosterone levels and general fertility / sperm quality significantly.
      - Both testicular processes are heavily dependent on ATP/energy (...which light therapy increases).
      - Better results from red light than from sunlight.

    This is so intriguing! Where is the study on humans, it's not linked in the artice?

    "Low-intensity laser infra-red radiation was used.....elevated the level of serum sexual and gonadotropic hormones"

    "semen was divided .....exposed to a 30-second infrared laser pulse of 50 mW/cm(2) at 905 nm.....A significant increase in motility"

    "Our results showed that irradiating human sperms with low-level 830-nm diode laser can improve their progressive motility depending on both laser density and post-exposure time."

    I found these human studies on a quick google search. There's a ton of them on dog/rats/birds/etc.

    It's time for an update...

    In general, my results weren't spectacular. I did it for about a week about 2 times a day for 5 minutes, but with no significant effect. I haven't done testosterone bloodtest, but I did't get a morning wood when my prometabolic lifstyle is 110% tight. I am guessing it could be because of 2 things:

    a)my red light device wasn't strong enough, I was using this light bulb: http://www.lighting.philips.com/main/pr ... EU/product
    It's mainly a lightbulb that produce close infrared light, but it also was emitting a lot of red light.

    b)I might have high level of estrogen/serotonin/prolactin as I am a bit swollen (on my face ;) ) sometimes.

    c) both of thous factors

    I tried it once with this product for a few minutes after hearing about the study from Dr. Hamblin. http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00A6GZTT0/?tag=rapefo-20

    Ultimately after trying I can say that this hurt my balls and did not try it again. This has wavelengths at 850nm, but also has blue wavelengths, which redlightman says is bad. In studies it shows red light to be protective of blue so the fact that it made me ache probably means that the red light is likely underpowered to the blue. I originally bought this product to help with a hip issue from squatting and it also would make my hip ache.

    Yep, your red light is weak sauce. You need to get something like this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/CMVision-IR...019?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item1c4e5858bb

    And don't use it twice a day. If you overdo red light, all the benefits diminish. Use it once every 48hrs (2 days). So for example, if you do red light on Monday at 8am, then have the next session on Wednesday at 8am or later. 5 minutes per session is good though in this case. But don't do 2 sessions per day, just do 1 session of 5 minute every 2 days. Your balls need to recover between sessions.

    And no, don't use blue LED for therapy. It works on certain therapies, but not this particular one.

    The guy at http://heelspurs.com/led.html said to avoid blue led.

    Doesn't the heat on your testes makes you weird? I tried it to0, but couldn't stand the heat. My testes furthermore moved on its own , as if they would try to flee and hide from the light.

    if you use weaker source but keep it closer to body then it should be ok. not?

    I was placing the lamp about 30-40 cm from my balls. To prevent getting them getting too hot, every minute or so, I was shining the lamp on my thighs so my balls had the chance to cool off.

    @Strongbad
    Thanks for the input. I am just wondering - balls aren't too big, so you think my setup was not powerful enough?

    @paymanz
    With the light bulb I linked, you can't keep it too long near any area if it's very close, as it produce significant amount of heat.

    @BastiFuntasty
    My sack was kind of "shifting", I guess it's normal, as it increase the area that the heat can radiate from your body (in the same way when you swim in cold water your sack shrinks). I made sure the experiment is not unpleasant. It was actually quite a nice feeling. I guess it's all about the distance from the heat source.

    i understand but with bigger bulb you need to give more space between your body and the bulb.so its not different i think.and incandescent lamp with lower watt has more red and infrared probably.

    You guys are using heat light bulb. No wonder you're having problem getting it close to testes cause it's too hot. That issue is almost non-existent on LED infrared lights.

    If you have weaker source, getting it close only solves part of the problem. You also have to go through longer session. So instead of 5 minutes, maybe 10 minutes or more. 10 minutes session on heat bulb will not be comfortable, though.

    The stronger the source is, the lesser time the session takes. Overdoing it would nullify all its benefits and it'll make your body produce stress hormones which is not what you want. That's why a person can have strong heart palpation and stress symptoms after being exposed to red light too long.

    I think that even low budget red led flashlights can provide the desired effect, with even sparing lots of money on the electricity bill. The thing is they concentrate the light to the desired direction, which could be our testicles, thyroid or whatever. There are even flashlights with about 1000 lumen and more out there. I already found some with 650 nm and 850nm with just a short look on amazon.
    So the best wavelength would be 670 nm, isn't it? I am still searching for one with this wl, but didn't find any yet.
    What do you think?

    Just to back up what strongbad said above. I haven't tried this but maybe I will just to let you guys know.I noticed glancing at the site he recommends red or near infrared LED light. I have a near infared light that is used for security cameras same as strongbad mentioned above. I learned about it on the toxinless site they have a link to purchase it on amazon. Anyway my point is that LED light doesn't heat up much at all it gets warm. But I can always touch it with bare skin so I doubt it would have the same problems even after being on for a hour moving to different areas or sharing it with someone else it's only warm to the touch. I personally took the light panel completely out of the fitting it stays cooler and it's easier to place where you want it in my opinion. I have tried to shock myself with it as the wiring is open on the back this way and I didn't want anyone using it besides me to get shocked if it was possible but I was unable to.

    Also NathanK mentioned aching after use. It could very well be a negative response but it could also be from increased DHT production in the testicals something Haidut has mentioned as is a well known side effect of increased DHT production. :2cents

    650 or 660nm are best for skin and hair, 850nm is best for thyroid or testes or anything that penetrates deep.

    Now that you mention it, for testes I'd probably go for 650nm or 660nm LED light. 850nm is overkill.
