So I recently have compared pictures from long time followers of the low vitamin A, diet and have noticed a disturbing trend, they're all missing the outer third of their eyebrows, this is very common in hypothyroidism, and also makes me think that this is just another fad, any thoughts?

I got very hypothyroid due to vitamin A toxicity and my sick liver. Just sticking to the detox protocol didn’t help my hypothyroidism that much and after 2 years of hypo misery I decided to try thyroid.

I got on thyroid and since then doing much better. It wasn’t a magic fix, but it still helps immensely. My diet is still pretty much in alignment with the recommendations of the low-toxin diet. (Lean beef, chicken, rice, kiwi, apples, cucumbers, beans, refined coconut oil, salt)

I think thyroid should be utilized as long as it’s needed. (while tracking blood work, body metrics etc. of course)

Many people are hypothyroid, if not most, these days. I frequently see this also in carnivore, keto, vegan groups.

PS: I don’t see a missing outer third of the eyebrows except a few of the ones you shared. Or am I blind?

Yeah, I think this whole thing is very complex, I don't know if you know the whole story with anhydroretinol?

Also the whole reason why I brough this up is because I started noticing it in myself, with my eyebrows, at least one of them

Since starting the low toxin diet just 5-6 weeks ago, I've lost 20 lbs. On the Ray Peat diet, no matter how much caffeine, thyroid, aspirin, progest-e, pregnenolone, DHT, methylene blue, vitamin K2, etc. I took, I could never lose weight. In fact, a big reason why I ended up switching was because I was gaining weight uncontrollably and was becoming diabetic and insulin resistant and thyroid resistant. The only times I've felt cold since switching were the few times I overdosed on flush niacin, but since flush niacin frees up toxins from the tissues to then be excreted, it just proves that Dr. Garrett Smith is right about hypothyroidism being caused by toxicity.

Also, no, I don't really notice anything with their eyebrows that would indicate hypothyroidism. My mother has had Hashimoto's so I'm familiar with what thinning eyebrows looks like, and I don't think they have it. Maybe the guy in the middle, but it's hard to tell for sure. He also looks drastically older in the second photo...

I have not found this to be the case. Infact if anything my eyebrows are thicker. Along with this every conceivable health marker has improved including verbal fluency, back pain, beltching, anxiety and motivation.

Bear in mind eyebrows can thin in a seasonal way, and also hair can shed before it comes in thicker.

If the body is dumping stored vitamin A as the hypothesis goes then it could be either the fact VA and thyroid share the same transporter (If this is confirmed) or the damage VA causes to skin meaning there is some shedding going on.

I haven't noticed any particular changes in my eyebrows.

You are still wise to stay skeptical and observe changes in your body. And also keep accurate records of exactly what you are eating and supplementing, doing lifestyle wise. For example I am eating 15 percent fat beef mince and brown rice, which is quite different from someone eating lower fat and white rice, or something else entirely. These may yield drastically different results despite both being low a. As is the case if someone is supplementing or working out differently.

@PeterSN Interestingly, I have noticed that the outer 3rd of my eyebrows are missing too over the last couple of days. I wear glasses; though, which cover my eyebrows so its possible that the outer third has been missing for quite some time but for whatever reason I happened to notice it the other day when I had my glasses off. I have been loosely following the low A diet since May of 2022 but really dialed it the last 2 weeks so my initial thought, before seeing this thread, was that it was a consequence of the recent changes I made with my diet. And it certainly could be. I am hypothyroid. I have had Hashimoto's for at least 10 years. Although, I am concerned about the missing eyebrows I was also somewhat reassured when I was re-reading Grant's book Extinguishing the Fires of Hell last night and he mentioned that he was missing his as well and they grew back in following the diet. Additionally, since starting a modified low A diet in 2022, the hair on my head, that I had lost in the front has slowly been growing back in. My nails have also been growing again and they are stronger than ever so I am also taking that as a very good sign

Yeah I have noticed that too, there is definitely something off looks wise for the people who have been on low Vit A for a long time. I have also noticed they are looking a lot paler too but that is likely from all the copper antagonism.

Or the "lack" of beta-carotene...
I don't think its that I also went deathly pale on low Vit A with the copper antagonists zinc, molybdenum, selenium. When I started working on my iron/copper metabolism with things like phosphorus I regained colour in my face and started to look healthy again.

Most are slow oxidizers (low thyroid/low metabolic rate) and have low bioavailable copper, but likely have good copper stores.

Depends on T3, adrenals, methylation, NAD/FAD, molybdenum etc.

The guy on the right has solid eyebrows.

He looks healthy for about 65 but he's said that he achieved a heart rate of 47 and only needs 1500 calories which means slow metabolism:fearscream:.
He is looking worse in that recent interview compared to other videos, it might be because he added in sourdough bread to his diet recently (and that might have some bad in it like iron or glyphosate) or he is just going through a period where he is looking worse

If you look at the giant Vit A thread here and Rays writings this has been hypothesized many times. I believe it's accurate.

But they'll argue chicken or the egg.
