Is caprylic acid safe to try?

I'm trying to see if my issues are gut fungus related (I posted another thread) and I have some caprylic acid. Is this one of those things like antibiotics where I'm risking a worsening of symptoms after stopping treatment? Does it kill everything or does it target more pathogenic species? Do you have any experience at all?
