Blood flows to the stomach and digestive tract for the immediate time post prandial (eating). So the Italians and others then have an espresso after 15 + minutes after eating a meal (except for breakfast, espresso first!). Or a small coffee. Also one can have a fruit juice or fruit or dessert to give you a boost for that time of 'extra' blood flow to the stomach. I do not know the specific hormonal effects, except of course dark chocolate has been said to produce the same neurotransmitters as when "In Love".
