It's clear that caffeine has drug functions, and homeostasis steps in to nullify certain effects (Caffeine Is A Serotonin Receptor Antagonist as seen here) and cause withdrawals. Though as Ray Peat says something that acts as a drug can also be nutrient, and any nutrient can have drug-like effects in isolation. Ray Peat and many here say caffeine increases metabolism. I have also experienced a warming effect from coffee.

Does the metabolism increasing effect of caffeine get downregulated? Like, no longer experiencing the effect after continued use and on top of that developing a slower metabolism than before after quitting, maybe lower than baseline temps. I was thinking of increasing my caffeine intake for a better metabolism and I'm wondering if I'll get a net metabolism-increasing effect from caffeine at all.
