"This very interesting analysis came in just as the three Democratic governors of CA, OR, and WA announced a pact to reopen WITHOUT an explicit goal of no infections or deaths. (A long way from no @nfl season, as @CA governor said just days ago.)"
Yeh and I just saw this:

"The governors of New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island and Delaware said on Monday that they would work together to plan for reopening the region’s economies, schools and other important elements.

Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo of New York said that health and economic officials from the six states were starting work immediately on developing strategies for easing restrictions that have brought much of daily life to a halt."

I meant to post this text in this thread.

I expect trump to split the baby and give the states his official permission to do what they think it right. His first task force essentially gave individuals the permission to voluntarily wear masks. Up until then, wearing masks was a no-no.

Edit: For me it does not matter who pulls the trigger and takes credit for the kill. The point is to bring down this beast of a lockdown.

Yikes! Those numbers must be far better than expected for them to take this risk.

This is also really going to hurt Fauci and Birx, as the Dem Governors ignore them.

Interesting. One organic protest in Ohio (at least, the most organic and grass roots one I've ever seen), and all these things now start happening? Maybe the people have far more power than they think.

It seems the walls of this lockdown are crumbing. I find it strange that 8 governors can opt out of the lockdown from the start and that the remaining 42 governors need to wait for a his task force to declare an exit strategy before they can opt out.

Every good politician knows that people often vote in accordance with their wallets. The outcome of the upcoming election has to be playing on the minds our politicians. Maybe Trump and the media can divert our attention to other things and hope we forget this giant misstep before we vote.

Amazing video

talks about the recent Cali study and much more, including the effects of the lockdown we've been discussing. It's easy to see why Ray considers him a sound mind.

doi: Years of life lost due to the psychosocial consequences of COVID19 mitigation strategies based on Swiss data
This article is a preprint and has not been certified by peer review [what does this mean?]. It reports new medical research that has yet to be evaluated and so should not be used to guide clinical practice
Abstract
Background: The pandemic caused by COVID-19 has forced governments to implement strict social mitigation strategies to reduce the acute morbidity and mortality from acute infections. These strategies however carry a significant risk for mental health which can lead to increased short-term and long-term mortality, which is currently not included in modelling the impact of the pandemic. Methods: We used years of life lost (YLL) as the main outcome measure as applied to Switzerland as an exemplar. We focused on suicide, depression, alcohol use disorder, childhood physical abuse and social isolation as these are known to increase YLL in the context of imposed restriction in social contact and freedom of movement. We also estimated a minimum duration of mitigation of 3 months based on current public health plans. Results: The study projects that the average person would suffer 0.205 YLL due to psychosocial consequence of COVID-19 mitigation measures. However, this loss would be entirely borne by a subpopulation of 2.1 percent of the population, the average of whom suffer an average 9.79 YLL. Conclusions: The results presented here are likely to underestimate the true impact of the mitigation strategies on YLL. However, model like the one presented here highlight the need for public health models to expand their scope in order to provide better estimates of the risks and benefits of mitigation.

Global famines of 'biblical proportions' will be caused by coronavirus pandemic, UN warns - CNN
The world is facing multiple famines of "biblical proportions" in just a matter of months, the UN has said, warning that the coronavirus pandemic will push an additional 130 million people to the brink of starvation.

Famines could take hold in "about three dozen countries" in a worst-case scenario, the executive director of the World Food Programme (WFP) said in a stark address on Tuesday. Ten of those countries already have more than 1 million people on the verge of starvation, he said.

He cited conflict, an economic recession, a decline in aid and a collapse in oil prices as factors likely to lead to vast food shortages, and urged swift action to avert disaster.
Now the full scope of the consequences of global lockdown is starting to become apparent.

The title of this video make it sound like it is only directed to the atrocities associated with locking down our elderly in nursing homes and similar facitilies. However, it also discusses the backlog of cancer patients who can not get treatment because the hospitals are closed while they await the surge in coronavirus cases. And more
