Supplement with thyroid...forever?

Hey guys,

Quick question... After much searching online, this still seems like somewhat of an ambiguous area...

Does Ray Peat recommend to supplement with small amounts of thyroid glandular to enhance health generally, on an ongoing indefinite basis?

Or is this specifically something one should do to correct low metabolic rate, and then stop immediately as soon as body temp measurements, pulse, and symptoms are where they should be?

Is supplementing with thyroid glandular a good idea for EVERYONE, all the time--perhaps in small amounts? Or something to be stopped if you do not have overt signs of metabolic dysfunction?

Roughly speaking, someone whose thyroid function is 50% maybe can get it to 95% with some time of supplementation.

Whether he wants to continue for life to have a 100% thyroid function instead of 95% through additional supplementation is sort of a lifestyle decision, if he decides given all his options available that that is the best course of action.

Another point of view is that thyroid is a food, really. Chicken neck soups have it, fish head soups have it. So thyroid could be seen as a normal food, and one could get it from these soups, or just take a pill, which I guess is less natural.

At the moment I don't take any of those soups, but take half a grain twice a week.

Broda Barnes clearly wrote a great % of the population ( 30 to 40 % ?) , naturally hypothyroid, was allowed to survive life threatening infections like tuberculosis, pneumonia, etc... thanks to the introduction of antibiotics.

These people will come down with other degenerative diseases (heart disease, emphysema, lung cancer, depression, ...) if they don't supplement with thyroid for life.

Barnes belonged himself to that group.
