Trauma disorders like PTSD and CPTSD don't work like that. They completely dysregulate endocrine system and can alter brain structure. Whether you're focused on a memory or not. It's well known and not controversial at all. What's controversial is treatment models.
Definitely.

There's two approaches that one can take in attempting to deal with trauma. Dealing with it from a physiological angle, and dealing with it from a psychological angle. Both approaches can be very difficult to do. The good news is that time can often heal things.

The community on this forum is well versed with the physiological approach in dealing with things, but I know from experience that some of the advanced psychological approaches can work just as good if not better. Hypnotherapy, magic, etc. is as real as the mind and the imagination is. Good luck sorting through the rubbish or finding yourself in the right situation though.

As within, so without. Mind effects body, body effects mind.

EMDR is an easy thing to try. If you find yourself having horrible thoughts, just go for a walk and shift your eyes back and forth as you think about them.

I agree it's both. In my experience, though, the physiological damage is worth medical intervention. In other words, I believe a physiological intervention can rapidly change a lot of things without any "psychological" elements employed. Nevertheless, the "psychological" intervention is needed as well, perhaps less than trauma specialists would argue.

In stress you burn out your vitamins B, so at least take those to ensure healthy brain metabolism. Maybe healthier brain can work through painfull memories better. At least for me they take stress down like 90%.

Apparently, another trick is to not mind the suffering, this makes the suffering less potent. The reality that we currently find ourselves in wasn't designed to be a paradise.

One of my favorite sayings is "For every high there's a low, for every low there's a high". Unfortunately, sometimes the low seems to last too long.
