Me too. I wish I could live on oat bran and nothing else. However, if you are not adding much milk to it you may run the risk of pulling calcium out of your bones. Watch out for joint pains.

Oats is a poor grain choice when you have others available like barley, containing less overall oxidized unsaturated fat (7gr vs 2gr).

I've never had barley. Is it similar in taste to oatmeal? And is it gluten-free?

It has a lesser nutty flavor, since it has considerably less fat/pufa. No, it's not gluten-free, but I personally don't see any problem with gluten.

It's a marketing gimmick. Oats don't contain gluten.

It’s not gimmick, oats can contain gluten due to cross-contact. GF Oat just means the oats were processed in a facility where gluten containing grains were not processed, removing the risk of gluten contamination. It matters to people with Celiac especially.

It's still a marketing gimmick IMO. Are there any data showing how much, if any, contamination? Common sense says it's certainly minuscule to non-existent. Glyphosate contamination of oats is a much more realistic concern.
