Is this normal heart stuff?

At times, when I palpate my pulse on my left wrist or over my chest, instead of feeling

"TU-dum, TU-dum"

I feel

"TU-dumdumdum, TU-dumdumdum"

So there are up to four different heart sounds/movements occurring one after another within a single heart beat.

This rhythm tends to gradually set in and fade back to regular heartbeat over a few seconds. At other times, when I shift positions abruptly, it can get really erratic for a couple of seconds before settling down to the regular rhythm.

These do not feel like ectopic beats, PVCs/AVCs. I can't even notice them without palpating my pulse.

I know this is a bit silly thread and there may not be much anyone is able to say. I just couldn't find any info about this on the internet so this is my last hope before consulting a cardiologist.

Thanks.

In Trad Chinese Medicine, TCM, irregularly irregular pulses are considered not so negative a find, IF there are no other symptoms like SOB, swelling, dizziness, nausea, what have you. ... etc. . ALSO in modern Allopathic Medicine, same sitch. That is the irregularly irregular pulse may be found to be some minor arrythmia .... due to atrial fib, or ? which is not life threatening, etc.. . AND at the same time, both medical orientations take the symptom of Regularly irregular pulses to be more severe in nature. Western Medicine may find Valve issues, etc.. .

An irregularly irregular pulse would be like random skipping of beats, so Lub dub, dub ... Lub dub, lub dub..... Lub dub....dub..... Lub dub Lub dub.... Lub dub ...dub...

So if your pulse is more 'normal at other times' than you mentioned, probably just keep monitoring it. If it is (mostly when checked) found to be at 10 different times of day - randomly that is - Regularly irregular, yes do find an MD or ND if you are in the USA who specializes in heart issues. One of my first teachers of Anatomy and Physiology (1985) was an ND in Oregon, and he was a cardiac specialist. Dr. Marty Milner. He may still be alive, and possibly teaching at NCNM.

Good luck mate, and don't freak out over this. Let us know how it goes. Cheers.

Only way to find out is to get a 12 lead ekg from your pcp or cardiologist, have them listen to you/check for murmur. Then go on from there.

Getting an EKG is smart. I had palps pretty often, so I knocked off almost all of my many supplements and increased my magnesium intake to 400-500mg/day, in split doses... I also took a rounded half tsp of D-Ribose 2X daily. My palps are 99% gone.

I’m telling you those supplements can be a little devil and Angel sitting on a shoulder, trying to convince us to spend our money and mess us up more in the name of good health. I had heart arrhythmia issues 15+ years ago, which I eventually had to wear a heart monitor for. After that monitor showed my heart irregularities, I was prescribed heart medication, that I was told would be needed for the rest of my life. I was scared to take the medication, because the doctor said it was to keep me from having a heart attack, but I was also scared of the repercussions of the domino effect the medication would have on my health too. I decided against taking them, flushed them down the toilet and did my own investigation on the matter. I came to the conclusion that mine wasn’t a heart issue, it was adrenal issue. Addressing my stress by lightening my over-the-top daily load of tasks and drinking Rosemary and rosehips tea helped, and I have never had the issue again. I had that arrhythmia for about ten years.

I find that upping my magnesium intake 400-600mg daily, split into 2 doses... along with D-Ribose really helped me get rid of the palps... I take Zeta aid OR Potassium Bicarbonate often, but I should maybe take it daily...

Stopping my overuse of supplements may have had a big effect too... not sure which may have caused the palps... but when I dumped most of them, I started feeling MUCH better in a day or two.

It was a 4.5 centered in the town next to me, yikes!
California? I grew up in Northridge, was there for the '72 quake, nasty, but not anywhere near the one in, I think... '94? I went back there to view the damage to my folk's house and to CSUN and it was all so nasty...
SoCal is overdue for another big one... I sure hope not soon!!

That Northridge one shook my house bad, with furniture moving. This is the second earthquake in the last week. The previous one was about 30 minutes away.,

Oh you are so sweet! Yes my house sounded like a train ran through. It was centered in the next town over. 4.5 is the Richter scale. 4.5 isn’t usually a big deal when it is centered an hour away but right next to me it is.
Gotcha! Glad to hear all is ok.... more or less. I was in some little earthquakes when I was in Alaska. One was a CRACK and a Shake up of the little log cabin I was in. I was literally sitting quietly in the early morning, and BAM! .... and that wasn't a big one either.
And also I was in a few bigger earthquakes in NZ... the 'liquid movement ' of the earth and parking lots and buildings is unreal. But the whammy vibes I do not like.... strange and unsettling and bizarro.

Yeah I don’t like them either. That one you mention in ‘72 was the biggest for me and a long lasting one too.

Ah... so you are in Cali, eh? I miss it bad, but it is so different now... it was paradise as I grew up, left for Tucson in '85.

I went to San Diego State for college... again... paradise. Now Cali has so many problems, so many woke fools destroying the state... ah well... politics is poisonous, so I'll stick with looking for good advice here, like YOU have been giving...

Was not the '94 one far worse?
I think because of the direction it was going in and how long it was, made it more scary for me, and because I was so young. I had wood floors in my bedroom and the wood furniture moving and scraping across the floor sounded terrible. The Northridge one shook hard and I could barely hang on to the leg of my dining room I was under, and the aftershock a half hour later was I think even bigger.

It may be the San Francisco one that I am remembering, now looking it up, from when I was around that age.

Earthquakes are VERY scary... the '94 one did a ton of damage, collapsed a apt building killing several, collapsed many structures at Cal State Northridge, did a LOT of damage to the family home, including bringing down our chimney... I remember dad took advantage of the insurance and relief programs...

I need to go back and look at your diet recommendations... I think they will be very helpful, thx!

You are right the ‘94 quake was the one where I was under the table hanging on for dear life with my three year old son in my arms. I got my dates wrong. It was the one with the big aftershock too.

In my “More Weight Loss” thread I post occasional updates of what I am eating and where my weight is, which shows that change it up often and eat a good variety.

Ah, found them... great stuff... I guess my starch intake, including my beloved sourdough bread... has to be stopped... ah well... I noticed my rice chex cereal has iron in it too, so that's out... cheerios too. I can get by on lean meat, cheeses, fruit, sugar...
What fruits are best? I like green grapes, bananas, apples, OJ... and is some ice cream OK, the stuff with no bad ingredients? I'll pray while you consider your response... 🫣
