“Polyunsaturated fats are converted to prostaglandins (especially under the influence of estrogen), and several prostaglandins have toxic effects on bone. Those fats also suppress the formation of thyroid hormone and progesterone. The increased use of the unsaturated oils has coincided with the increase of osteoporosis.” -Ray Peat

“Avoiding fluoridated water and the polyunsaturated oils, and drinking two quarts of milk daily (which will provide only 66 grams of protein), and using some other nutrient-rich foods such as eggs and fruits, are probably the basic things to protect the bones. For vitamins, especially K, occasional liver can be helpful. Meats, fruits, leaves, and coffee are rich in magnesium.” -Ray Peat

“A Baltimore, Maryland, pharmaceutical company has recalled four lots of a medication for high blood pressure because testing has detected a higher than recommended level of a cancer-causing impurity.

Lupin Pharmaceuticals has recalled Quinapril tablets in 20 mg and 40 mg, according to an announcement with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.

Recent testing found the presence of a “nitrosamine impurity, N-Nitroso-Quinapril” above the Acceptable Daily Intake level.”

“Nitrosamines are common in water and foods, including cured and grilled meats, dairy products and vegetables. Everyone is exposed to some level of nitrosamines. These impurities may increase the risk of cancer if people are exposed to them above acceptable levels over long periods of time,” according to the FDA.

Quinapril “is an angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitor indicated for the treatment of hypertension, to lower blood pressure.”

The Quinapril is packaged in 90-count bottles and was distributed nationwide in the United States to wholesalers, drug chains, mail order pharmacies and supermarkets. The drug was distributed from March 15, 2021, through Sept. 1, 2022.“

“After the April, 1986 catastrophe at the reactor in Chernobyl, some of the food being imported into the U.S. was so highly radioactive that the FDA secretly seized it, to prevent the public from being concerned. The first cow found to have BSE in England was in November, 1986, several months after England’s pastures had been heavily contaminated by rainfall carrying radioactive material from Chernobyl, which soaked into the soil and continued to contaminate crops for years (and will continue, for centuries). The number of sick cows increased rapidly to a peak in 1992. Human deaths from the similar disease (“variant CJD”) began a few years later.“ -Ray Peat

“Can flatworms make you sick?

Paragonimiasis is caused by infection with a flatworm. That's a parasitic worm also called a fluke or lung fluke because it commonly infects the lungs. Usually, infection comes after eating undercooked crab or crayfish that carry immature flukes. Once swallowed by a person, the worms mature and grow inside the body.” -Ray Peat

“We found that the most optimal condition for immunized milk pasteurization can be achieved 62.5–63 °C during 30 minutes. This pasteurization condition retains efficient virus neutralizing antibody activity against SARS-CoV-2, providing future opportunity for the passive immunization of human by milk consumption.”

My cooked white rice seems a little crunchy. Could this be the reason why?

Wooooww!

“Rice is a staple food around the world, so it is important we understand the quantity of microplastics we could be consuming,” Dr O'Brien said. “Our study found we may be consuming three to four milligrams of plastic through a single-serve or 100 grams of rice.”

I’m glad I don’t eat rice, but I eat shellfish 😬

“All of our samples regardless of the packaging it came in had some levels of plastic," Dr Jake O'Brien from the University of Queensland told 9News.”

“Microplastics have also been found in things like shellfish, beer, and salt. Another recent study estimated we each consume a credit card worth every week.
"At this stage we don't know about any health implications from ingesting microplastics via food consumption but we do know that where there is exposure there is some form of risk," Dr O'Brien added.
One way to reduce the amount of microplastics by 20-40 per cent is to wash it before it is cooked.“

“In the U.S. and Europe, livestock are fed large amounts of high-protein feeds, and currently these typically contain fish meal and soybeans. The estrogenic materials in soybeans increase the animals’ tendency toward inflammation (with increased serum amyloid).” -Ray Peat

“Since microplastics usually start out in an animal’s gut, seafood which includes the animal’s stomach, like mussels, oysters, and other filter-feeding animals, may be more likely to carry microplastics to your dinner plate. In fact, one study estimates that people who eat large amounts of shellfish ingest about 11,000 microplastic particles each year.”

“While the plastic particles themselves may not frequently end up in fish meat, there is evidence that the chemicals carried by plastics do, including toxic substances like flame retardants and polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs).”

“It’s time to ditch bottled water, which, according to a 2018 study, has roughly double the amount of microplastics as tap water. Instead of reaching for a new plastic bottle every day, fill up a reusable glass, stainless steel, or silicone bottle with tap water. Many of these bottles are also designed to keep drinks cold, and last for many years.“

“Marine fish are now so generally polluted with dioxin, that in Japan there is a clear association between the amount of fish in a person’s diet (their body content of EPA and DHA) and the amount of dioxin in their body.” -Ray Peat
