For anyone with the same bright (heh) idea I had of editing the preferences plist: don't bother, it seems to ignore out-of-range values.

I have switched over to redshift. The person who made the program use to use f.lux but I guess he started tinkering himself and found a more red hued screen at night was much easier on his eyes.

Here's an interesting OS X program:
https://inbeta.org/2012/08/28/blacktree ... tain-lion/

I think it could be useful in cases where f.lux makes things too hard to read: it has a "night mode" that inverts your display's colors, generally resulting in a lot less light pouring out of your monitor without affecting contrast.

The inversion does leave photos looking pretty terrifying though:

Now there's an f.lux OS X beta with a bunch of new features (as far as I can tell, there's not a new Windows beta yet):
http://justgetflux.com/news/pages/mac/

It lets you shift the schedule based on your wakeup time rather than your location. There's also a "Darkroom" mode similar to the Nocturne link I posted above. Most importantly for us, the color temperature is now more flexible: there's separate "daytime", "sunset", and "bedtime" settings. "Sunset" can't go below 2700k (vs 2300k before), but "bedtime" can go all the way to 1200k. For the people that want a strong no-blue effect through the whole day, you could enable the "extra hour of sleep" option, and then shift the wakeup time twice a day.

I've been using it for like 3 years.
Do these new features allow one to get more red light and less bad light?

Are you referring to the fluxometer link I posted? I think they mean it as just an informational resource, I don't think it'll actually integrate with the main software.
