I found this story while reading through Masterjohn's site and this experience of his is very interesting and relatable. Chris found himself being ridiculously exhausted and not recovering from his well managed workouts and decided to test his urine pH with test strips. He found the urine to be overly acidic and then used small amounts of baking soda to try to adjust the situation.
Here is the blog post;
How Measuring My Urine pH Got Me to Love Working Out Again
Using the test strips and the bicarb, he was able to optimize his baking soda intake to greatly improve his recovery. He then successfully added in creatine to improve his work capacity.
Ray has recommended baking soda for a lot of different issues, but like Chris points out in the article make sure you don't take too much! (I think there are also some stories of this happening to people on the forum)
On creatine Ray has said that it has a lot of beneficial effects, but it's important that the source is very pure. Quotes aren't working for me, so here is a link to Peat's response on creatine in the email advice thread;Ray Peat Email Advice Depository
Functionalps also has posted some good info on their blog on the subject;

Protective Carbon Dioxide, Exercise, and Performance
