Dr. Revici often had his acidic/anabolic patients use baking soda short term for temporary relief of their pain. At the same time, he also proved that baking soda when applied to catabolic patient's lesions intensified their pain. (Patients with anabolic pain would feel a relief of their pain when baking soda was applied.) This is a profound discovery - as big or bigger than Otto Warburg's discovery that cancer cells thrive when provided sugar. The key is to determine whether one is anabolic or catabolic.
There is a good reason to avoid relying too much on baking soda even if one is too anabolic. Continued use will often cause the metabolism to shift over to being too catabolic. The result of that is a return of the cancer, usually metastasized. The patient unwittingly redoubles the baking soda not realizing that they are feeding the imbalance that promotes their disease. Revici preferred to use oils to alter pH rather than baking soda for other than quick temporary relief. The reason is that the oils don't disturb the stomach pH, whereas baking soda usually has a negative effect on stomach pH. That disturbance throws the pH balance of the rest of the body off in an attempt to restore the proper stomach pH. It's that reaction that contributes to a rebound of the cancer.
