I think member Mittir mentioned that it is a good solution to use pectinase enzyme and filter the juice through a coffee filter to eliminate Pectin in juice that is problematic for many people. Of course fruit juice still needs to be ripe. Peat said that ripe OJ contains enough pectinase to settle and separate on its own after several hours.

Wonder if pulp-free orange juice has much pectin to begin with?

I've successfully done this with orange juice and with fresh pressed apple juice using a product called Pectinex. It worked well, but was rather time consuming; I found that it was ultimately easier to break the pectin down by simply cooking the apples.

Do you remember where he said this? If you discard the sediment, you would be throwing out much of the beneficial substances in there too, right? When he said to strain the juice, I thought he meant removing the solid pulp, and not the sediment that forms after a few hours of letting the juice sit still?

Has anyone experimented with getting rid of pectin in juice with pectinase for a long time? Have you noticed any difference?
