Would crickets from the pet store be good and safe to eat? I wonder what they feed them. What would be the best/most humane way to kill them? I settled on freezing but am open to other suggestions.

thx

There are companies that sell crickets for human consumption in north america. Freezing is the most humane and efficient way to kill them.

They are commonly eaten in central mexico. I have had "quesadillas con chapulines". Crunchy. I'd prefer using the flour.

I would imagine they are like escargot in that you need to feed them something innocuous for a few days before killing and eating. With escargot though its wheat flour.

I've eaten them before and they're delicious, a bit nutty kind of like almonds or macadmia.

If they weren't so expensive and more common to find in the US, I'd make them a regular part of my diet.
