In all the hospitalizations of my mom, doctor always prescribe nebulization while she is hospitalized, once every 4 hours. With her current stay, I seem to notice she has difficulty breathing through the nose each time they do it. The difficulty doesn't last long however. Yet, I have never questioned its use. Should I? She is being given Duavent and Fluimicil, to clear the passage and to remove mucous, respectively.
I would like to find out more about the need for nebulization. Like when is it needed, and when you can do without it. Sometimes I feel it is causing more phlegm to be produced, and more difficulty breathing. I then begin to think this practice may be meant to keep a patient's stay longer. Can't help thinking this way when past hospitalization have ended with us paying a lot for doctor-induced side effects that became the major issue that kept her from being healed and discharged.
Thanks!
