How would something like citric acid effect digestion, compared to a gum ( carrageanen, guar gum, xanthum gum, etc.), also soy lecitin. i would imagine the gums dont digest through the stomach and small intestine, so would they get absorbed in the large intestine or are they passed in the stool? how about with citric acid? is it just a problem in the early stages of digestion and then it gets broken down and absorbed early in the digestive process, or are its effects felt throughout the whole transit time? i think this is an important thread because these things permeate our food supply. for example if citric acid is only going to give me minor problems for a few hours then i might consume, versus a gum which really seems to mess me up for a day or two. what are your experiences with soy lecitin?
