Thanks again Tara.Lot's of helpful info and things to keep me busy. I really related to the link's you posted. Esp. the article on "Your Eatopia" on food restriction. I can see I've slipped into a type of eating disorder.

I related especially with this line : "As best as we can define this condition at present, food becomes misidentified as a threat." I just didn't know what was causing the problems for years and so every food was a potential threat :s

I'm having good results on leaving out fermentable type carbs and starches. Less bloating and feeling like I can manage more.

Not heard of the Minnesota Starvation Experiment but I'm reading into now. Thanks.

Not had thyroid tests done. Doc ruled it out. I really don't like going to NHS docs anyway it'd have to be private so I could call the shots... + I don't have the cash after spending on so many other dead ends.

Hopefully high calorie food will make the difference. I tried this months ago after listening to Matt Stone and my symptoms got really bad... the difference was that I had no idea about SIBO and fermentable carbs. Fingers crossed this time around.

Yeah, I don't count myself anorexic because I've usually had a strong appetite (and I've never gotten officially underweight). But there have been times I think that trying to avoid all possible triggers has left me too hungry too much. It gets different complications when some of the food is accurately identified as a threat, but we still have to eat, and we want to, but we haven't figured out what is safe enough yet. We need energy, and sometimes imperfect fuel is the only thing available.

Temps of 94F are a pretty strong indicator of low thyroid, whether or not you have blood test to confirm it. Adding resting pulse measurements give more evidence.

I had a go at less restricted eating a la Stone for a few months too. I'm pretty sure it improved my overall metabolism, but I think too much wheat didn't do me so much good, and it was probably a bit imbalance wrt some nutrients. So now I'm a bit more selective about foods again, but am pretty rigorous about eating to appetite most of the time, and I'm not so fanatical about avoiding small amounts of less optimal foods. I do try to keep PUFAs low (which I recommend to everyone) and avoid aged cheeses (which I don't recommend to anyone unless they cause you obvious trouble).

(Disclaimer, in case anyone is tempted to take me as an expert: I can't say I've solved all my key issue yet, though, and I don't yet know if it will be possible.)
