What's the difference between [Mineral] Citrate, [Mineral] Glycinate, etc?

For example, zinc, magnesium, boron seem to have these common supplemental forms, such as glycinate or citrate.

What's the difference? Should one prefer one over the other for any reason? Should both forms provide roughly the same base mineral amount?

Thanks

You have to consider which compound it is bounded to individually.

For example, the unique benefits of magnesium glycinate come its bonding to the amino acid glycine. Glycine might be something you want more of. It really depends. They will not provide the same amount of each mineral. For example, magnesium taurate offers more taurine and less magnesium compared to other forms. This isn't a downside necessarily, it just depends on your individual needs.
