I think I have adequate sodium, potassium, calcium, magnesium but I get cramps in hands with chopping, cutting, peeling ( food prep) and sometimes in toes. Any idea what could cause this?

Aside from mineral deficiency, cold will set me up for cramps, mostly in feet, but I've had them in calves and hamstrings too. I think having low thyroid function can set the muscles (and tendons) up to not have enough energy to be able to relax quickly and fully in between exertions. That's why the achilles tendon relaxation test can give an indication of thyroid function. I'm guessing repeated use in this low energy state can be a set up for cramping too.

Thanks Tara - it is most likely thyroid issues - those are ongoing for me
