Hi, I've been addicted to fapping since I was like 12, and am now 20. Has ranged from like 5 times a day to once a week and now back to 5 again and I'm wondering if there is anything I can take to help me quit? LSD in a low dose helps but as some of you may know the tolerance builds too fast to use daily. Any help appreciated

You got a girlfriend? I'm going to assume you don't. Once you are getting regular sex, it's hard to see past the shallow reality of porn, which is that it's an artificial entertainment medium targeted towards young men and almost everything you are watching is acting or at the very least, DRASTICALLY exaggerated. It also holds to a form of intimacy that appeals to young people, wherein your prowess is demonstrated through how well you can physically stimulate your partner. The idea of cerebral or neocortical involvement is non-existent. Porn stimulates the mammalian part of our brain that drives us to "mount and thrust". Porn is a woefully misguiding and toxic lesson on sex for people in general, nevermind young, impressionable men.

Anyway, I don't have much practical advice. Speaking personally, I take 6mg exemestane every 4 days and it erases all my desire for masturbation, while increasing my desire for sex. High estrogen makes my libido out of control, in a negative way. There is no substance to my orgasms - it just feels like a drug seeking behavior.

5 times a day? Make sure you are getting enough zinc. The average amount of semen has 0.5mg of zinc in it or something. You could be losing 2.5mg a day! What's the RDA for zinc, like 11mg? You could be losing like a quarter of your zinc (in theory lol) Though, I suppose the amount coming out could decline over the course of the day.

Peat suggested in 'Nutrition for Women' that estrogen may increase the tendency for one to have "little" orgasms, with the need to have many in succession. When hormones were more in balance the tendency was to have one large more satisfying orgasm, often followed by sleep.

Things that reduce the conversion of testosterone to estrogen (via aromatase) and things that improve the detoxification of estrogen through the liver and the gut are probably your best bet.

As you noticed dopaminergic things can help as well (and would tend to reduce prolactin, serotonin, and estrogen which feed into and from each other), although they may have separate effects on libido so wouldn't be my first choice in this regard.

Mainly zinc and how schultz says - with semen is lost huge amount of zinc. So as you can see it is vicious cycle..

In my experience, doing it once after abstaining for a week or so makes me yearn to do it again a few hours later. Definitely feels like a prolactin spike, unwholesome estrogenic horniness thing.

Cyproheptadine makes my morning wood more vigorous, but also makes my libido stay more in control. I don't feel like I have to do it, or have to look at some pretty woman on the street, etc.

Eating a ton of oysters at once does make me horny too, though.

avoid fantasy, avoid porn, avoid even scantily clad women images on the internet, avoid surfing for workout videos of pretty girls...the more you do this, the easier it gets to avoid masturbation.

It's not that easy replenish zinc levels. if you are masturbating multiple times a day. Zinc itself is harder to absorb mineral. Let alone if you have some malabsorption issues like most people have.. So just because you eat enough zinc according to nutrition data. That doesn't mean that you have enough zinc in the body.. + in my opinion masturbation in front of TV with porn will decrease testosterone production and estrogen and prolactin will rise. On other hand hunt a girl will increase testosterone rapidly. Ejaculation 1x month(sex with a girl) will be ideal in my opinion or even 1x/2x a week is ok. But masturbation every day or even worse multiple times a day it will have detrimental effect on the health no doubt..

You will "flatline" a few weeks in, which will be very scary because your **** will be very small and shriveled up all day and you won't have any libido whatsoever, no morning wood etc. Just keep going and don't worry about it, at some point (after around 3 month) your libido will come back with a vengeance and you will probably have a wet dream.
Congratulations, you have now successfully reset yourself and can start masturbating WITHOUT porn maybe 1x every two weeks or so or better yet, find a girlfriend.

My theory on why some people feel drawn to masturbate and watch porn excessively (when libido is not high) is low oxytocin release. Primates seem to be extremely wired for seeking oxytocin release all day everyday for their entire lives. Everything that lowers cortisol should help as cortisol antagonizes oxytocin release. DHT seems to be one of the most important factors for keeping cortisol low, so regular strength training and plenty of daily sun exposure should be enough at your age.

But enough regular enjoyable social activity to stimulate oxytocin release is probably more at the root of the issue. Anything that involves being your real vulnerable self with one or more people should do the trick.

Having a girlfriend is not the only way or necessarily enough to satisfy the daily human drive for oxytocin release. Simply having regular sex is not necessarily enough either if there isn't a lot of emotional intimacy as well. There are sex addicts who get ridiculous amounts of sex but still masturbate furiously without satisfaction.

I also don't think that strict avoidance of porn and masturbation for months, like is recommended by the "Your Brain on Porn" community is worth focusing on. Masturbation/porn should naturally decrease to a reasonable frequency if you focus on lowering cortisol and increasing oxytocin release.

Compulsive masturbation/porn viewing is usually at its root an oxytocin seeking behavior in my opinion. So I would recommend lowering systemic cortisol with sun and strength training/outdoor sports and try to add a lot of authentic face-to-face social activity to your daily life through more daily time on hobbies and interests in a group social setting, especially ones that have a component of trust, generosity and caring for others. That's going to mean different things to different people.

I think diet and lifestyle are definitely also a factor in the length of the flatline. Let's be honest, most people on reddit aren't really living healthy lives.

I think you're definitely on to something with oxytocin in regards to a a long term solution.
I still think that a reboot like I described above is necessary for someone who has been excessively masturbating to porn for many years. Just my personal experience, but from what I've read online I definitely wasn't alone here: After years of daily masturbation to porn, you simply can't get proper, hard erections anymore during actual sex, even if you reduce the amount you masturbate. Only abstaining from all sexual activity for several weeks will restore it. At least in my personal experience.
