Estrogen And Sex Change Therapy

Hello, I have been pondering a question for some time and thought I would finally ask it here. Since the accepted Peat view seems to be that estrogen is not simply the "female hormone" but that it "creates all of the conditions known to be involved in the aging process," how should one view the role of estrogen in (for example) sex change/hormone replacement therapy? Some who have undergone such treatment have reported that the hormone makes them less aggressive and allows them to feel more feminine. Is such treatment misguided, or does it have a beneficial role in such niche areas?
