I guess taro and sweet potatoes would provide more calcium and some other minerals and vitamins than bread. Did they have seaweed-eating habits, and did these change? Very rich in minerals, probably useful for a little selenium and iodine if the soils were not rich in them and they weren't fisher folk?replacing taro and sweet potato with bread (although this had minimal effect)
