Not talking about caffeine because that doesn't actually reduce your need for sleep.
I think a need for sleep is caused by serotonin + glutamate, so I would guess the key is raising baseline dopamine + GABA (aka increasing brain progesterone and decreasing brain estradiol).
Thyroid, high altitude, red light, tobacco, gelatin, aspirin should all help, but does anyone know of any other ways to develop your brain in the long-run in a way such that it requires less sleep (besides avoiding PUFA)?
