Does Activated Charcoal Actually Whiten Teeth?

Mainstream dentists say charcoal does more harm than good, scraping away your enamel, and the whitening effect is only caused by your gums getting darker.

I have thought about mixing activated charcoal with crushed strawberries and baking soda, just to use it as a mouth wash without brushing it into my teeth too heavily and just letting it sit for about 10-15 minutes, and doing this a few times a month.

This girl only used strawberries and baking soda, and it seemed to give some results, though she didn't control for lighting, and I don't know how much she messed with the color grading after editing.

Even if it does (most likely through pure abrasion of the surface enamel, speculative), why bother when you can do much better with carbimide peroxide cheaply and readily available -- even at the Dollar Tree, for $1!
