Oral Minoxidil has gained a lot of popularity in the recent months, as it works very well for hair regrowth in doses between 1.25mg and 5mg per day, and is a lot more convenient than having to apply it every day on the scalp.

I have tried it myself in doses between 2.5mg and 10mg per day, but I always have to quit after a few days because of the edema and physical weakness that ensues.

So I have looked into why Minoxidil makes hair grow : it seems to be a property at least 3 Potassium Channel Openers have in common.
The one that looks the most promising with the side effect of hair growth seems to be Diazoxide.
It also seems to be beneficial for heart health unlike Minoxidil.

The only issue I have is that it seems to prevent insulin release and cause hyperglycemia. I wonder if that is going to be problematic long term if the medication is used chronically ?

I welcome any experience anyone could have with this medication.
