This is my favorite potato soup.

Panera's Cream Cheese Potato Soup

Ingredients
4 cups chicken broth
4 cups peeled and cubed potatoes
1/4 cup minced onion
1/2 teaspoon seasoning salt(I use 1/2 garlic powder and 1/2 salt)
1/4 teaspoon white pepper(I don't use)
1/4 teaspoon ground red pepper(sometimes I use a little)
1 (8 ounce) packages cream cheese, cut into chunks ( I substitute sour cream and milk or hnh because I can't find cream cheese without junk)*

Directions
Combine broth, potatoes, onion, and spices.
Boil on medium heat until potatoes are tender (45 min)
Smash a few of the potatoes to release their starch for thickening.
Reduce to low heat.
Add cream cheese.
Heat, stirring frequently, until cheese melts.

*I am not sure how Peaty sour cream is. It might be ok with only half n half and milk.

Looks delicious.
My guess is that real sour cream would have quite a bit less lactic acid than yogurt, because the cream it is made from has much less lactose to be converted into lactic acid than milk does. Large quantities might not be great, but enough to get a good flavour might be fine for many people.

Thanks, Tara, that is good to know. I was thinking Greek yogurt could be substituted but I probably won't try that. Dan Wich listed a cream cheese or two on toxinless.com that were clean, but they aren't in my local stores.
