I've been taking progesterone for 4 months now in hopes of helping my PMS, heavy flow, insomnia, etc. It has definitely helped my lower back pain and insomnia, but not my heavy flow. I've tried varying the dosage and am working with a naturopath. The progesterone was making my sleepiness and brainfog much worse during the day, so he had me just take it at night. He suggested 100 mg. That made me very foggy in the morning, so I lowered it this month to 60 mg at bedtime and did better. Why would it make my brainfog so much worse?
Last night, my period got heavy and I started getting a headache, so I took 100 mg at bedtime. Woke up at 3:00am with severe headache, insomnia, and heavy flow. So I took more but it didn't help. Today I had headache and flushed face and was very depressed and weepy, so I took 120 mg, but that didn't do anything except make me a little foggier.
I've tried as much as 400 mg during a day up to 100 mg at a time. Are there people that need to take more than 100mg at a time? I've been scared to go higher since it often makes my brainfog and sleepiness worse.
