Low fat diet is equally as effective as Mediterranean diet for fat loss and health

"The conventionally balanced distribution of macronutrients in the Med diet is 50% of the total caloric value from carbohydrates, 15% from proteins, and above 30% from lipids. In the low-fat diet, established macronutrient distribution was 60% of the total caloric value from carbohydrates (low glycemic index), 15% from proteins, and less than 25% from lipids. The calorie-restricted diets were also balanced in terms of micronutrient intake (vitamins and minerals in the recommended diet must always be checked)."

So the low fat wasn't really very low, but if calories were about 1500, then total fat intake would be around 42g, which is still a low-fat diet.

"Both diets significantly lowered triglycerides, total and LDL-cholesterol, liver enzymes, fasting glucose, insulin, and HOMA-IR index. Fatty acid profiles were enhanced after both diets, with a significantly decreased n-6/n-3 ratio. Participants on the Med diet had higher levels of HDL-cholesterol and monounsaturated and n-3 docosahexaenoic acids in serum phospholipids and lower levels of saturated fatty acids, triglycerides, TG/HDL ratio, and FLI when compared to participants on the low-fat diet."

I was born and raised in Greece, the Mediterranean diet is a hoax, people in Greece eat a shitload of goat/sheep cheese, milk, yogurt, meat, eggs, fish, honey, butter, olive oil, the rest is pasta and rice with the occasional fruit as snack.
Legumes ,nuts and seeds, are rarely eaten, of course fast food is getting more common like in every western country.

The longevity in Greece is due to Goat/sheep/cow dairy , fish ,and meat, along with good quality honey and butter.

Legumes, vegetables and seeds consumption is not nearly as common as researchers like to claim it is.

That sounds great.
The point was only that some people think that mufas and fish oils and veggies are what makes the med diet so healthy. But it's simply eating low PUFA or at least a high ratio of SFA to PUFAs.

True, in italy aswell a lot of people have dementia and man are very violent. Typical behavior from the toxic oleic acid from their "heart-healthy" pure olive oil.
The people that live the most in italy eat fruits,some pasta, goat cheeses and drink 3 coffees a day with one cigarette, if you would like some social boost in this "closed balcony".
