This advice re dosing of progesterone and Progest-e has been kicking around the forum

"According to Peat, progesterone stimulates estrogen receptors and forces estrogen out of the cells. In order to counter this, it is recommended that a person use very high doses of progesterone to start, in order to drive out the estrogen."

It is stated here on Long Natural Health's site. Progest-E Instructions

But, is there published / researched evidence to this effect?

Making sure you read this thread:

It's a great thread, but so far on the first page I haven't seen an answer to m6 question...
Is it coming?
Is it the lack of sugar that adversely affect the response to low dose progesterone?

I only have a personal testimony- meaning anecdotal data. But yes. The lack of liver glycogen (and nutrition in general) really made a difference in my response to sublingual progesterone.

Also: If blood sugar is low or peaks and valleys- that is a huge stress on the adrenals. Needs to be steady. Needs the balanced macros.

Later, he said the estrogen that’s pulled from the tissues by progesterone can’t be harmful because it leaves in the detoxified (water-soluble) form. But he still seems to favor a higher dose.

I’ve always taken a low dose with great results.

They discuss it here at 1:35:20.

theres an in vitro study haidut posted which raised estrogen on the first day Progesterone inhibits the induction of aromatase activity in rat granulosa cells in vitro - PubMed
In those experiments progesterone increased estradiol on the first day of culture, but inhibited the effects of FSH in maintaining estradiol secretion later in culture. These experiments have shown that progesterone exerts a specific and irreversible inhibitory effect on estradiol production by granulosa cells.

"When follicles cultured with FSH and testosterone were exposed to various doses of progesterone, the highest dose of progesterone (10 mcg/ml) stimulated a twofold increase in estradiol (P<0.0S) during the first day of culture, had no significant effect on the second day of culture and depressed estradiol accumulation on the third day of culture by about 80%.

Cells did not regain the ability to respond to FSH by secreting estradiol when they had been exposed to 10 mcg/ml for 1 day or longer. In contrast, the effects of exposure to lower doses (0.1 and 1 mcg/ml) seemed fully or partially reversible, depending on the length of exposure. prior exposure of cells to FSH ameliorated the inhibitory effects of all but the highest dose of progesterone

net effect is inverse relationship to estrogen (aromatase)
