Levothyroxine + Topical Magnesium Oil

I know that magnesium interferes with Levothyroxine absorption but I'm curious if anyone is aware if this happens in the gut or in the blood? To me it would make sense that it is occuring in the gut and so the topical oil won't interfere but I'm wondering if anyone has any certainty on this. Thank you!

Hi-I have been on thyroid meds for over 20 years and never heard Mg interferes. Can you give more details about this?
