Hello all!
I've been lurking this cool community from the shadows for quite a while and i thought i will join in since it could benefit me even more and also benefit others.

First of all i'd like to tell you about myself , i am a 25 year old guy from Israel, or more accurately , PUFAland.
I was into health and fitness ever since i was around 15, i always tried to find the best diet that would allow me to maximize my gains while keeping ideal health and being sickness free.

The first kind of diet i was obsessed with was the protein mania, around 10 years ago when i was 15, there was a huge obsession with overloading with protein while working out, everyone thought it is the holy grail of gains, people packed their whey and ofcourse i followed the trends, i even got to the point where i woke up 1 hour earlier than usual so i could fry some chicken breasts to take with me to school just so i could push in as much protein as possible.
Now don't get me wrong, i did grow big, but i felt like ***t, i had fatigue, brain fog, constantly congested nose and of course, i was mouth breathing.

Feeling that something was wrong, i tried to look around the internet and find more and more information about a better diet to make me feel better.

I kept seeing the same thing everywhere - A calorie is a calorie, nearly everyone believed in that, people believed it didn't matter, even credited nutritionists on local TV promoted that agenda .

So around ages 18-20 i was stuck in a loop of dirty bulking, trying to eat as much as i can while working out, a calorie is a calorie right, i was barely putting any emphasis on the source of the calories and i decided to go for the cheapest source i could find.

Since i live in Israel, PUFA based foods are extremely popular here, and the highest calorie dense food i could find was Tahini, which is a sesame paste. I was feeding on it like a starving hog everyday and i thought that i was doing a good thing for my body.
As time went by , my body was becoming a mess, since i was in the Army at the time i was also experiencing very high stress levels, together with my high PUFA diet, my body was falling apart, i was experiencing acne at the age of 20+ , hair loss and all of my joints were inflamed and rigid, i was big and muscular but i had a sick body , it got to a point where my nurse neighbor felt so bad for me because of my acne that she was offering me to check me in for a skin specialist for free, and of course i didn't want that, i was stuck in a cycle of being insecure mixed with the feeling that i know everything better than anyone else.

Fast forward i tried to experiment with more diets, Keto, Paleo and all of that mixed with intermittent fasting aswell, i had some positive results with some of them at first but after a while my health went down the drain again, bad skin, signs of hair loss and a lot of joint inflammation and i got injured easily while working out, and the worse thing was the constant craving for carbs, i kept trying to push through because i believed that carbs were evil, everyone thought that they make you fat.

After that i tried veganism, and it completely destroyed me, i got hooked on youtube videos about veganism, freelee the banana girl, durianrider, vegan gains. eat healthy and save the animals and the envoirment at the same time? i thought that it was the ideal lifestyle. in a few months i lost nearly all of my muscles i went from being 85kg to 70kg in a very short time, i had even more signs of hairloss and the itch in my scalp kept getting worse.

After a while i resorted to vegetarianism and then just a "normal" diet, i kept reading about nutrition online till i found ray peat...

And boy that was weird! PUFA's are bad? Starch is bad? Broccoli??? The information here was so intriguing and didn't make a lot of sense at first, but that only made me read it more and more. And the most confusing thing is that at first this place looks like a bunch of nerds worshiping some old guy called ray peat who is not even here and the only way to contact him is through email, it just seemed kind of weird, so there is this ray peat guy releasing a lot of information of nutrition, but never really tells you " Do this, Do that" he just lays the information on the table and goes away, weird and bizarre at first but then i realized how great it is, how weird that in the first time in my life i get to a place where the so called health/nutrition guru doesn't really tell you what to do, he just talks raw science and lets people decide themselves what to do with their life, not only that but also a feeling of realization by the people here that while nutrition and health guidelines are important, so is how you mix them with your life, people here don't try to shame you or attack you for not eating in a certain way, most of the debates and arguments here are more intellectual and are about science.
In the vegan or paleo community for example, people would shame you for not doing what they do, if you ever fail and eat animal products you were seen as a bad person, if you didn't eat and live like a "caveman" you were seen as some kind of slacker, It's not like that here and it make me realize that i landed in a place with REAL information, no agendas and interests, just science based information for the best of people.

So that got me hooked in the last month or two, i slowly started making my diet more in line with the peaty way, i ditched oats and grains and nearly all starches aside for various potatoes, some root veggies and rice.
I stopped eating most raw leafy greens and only use coriander and parsley sometimes just for taste if at all.
Stopped with the broccoli and cauliflower, eat them rarely and only very well cooked.
Started eating more dairy and drinking more milk and even icecream.
Started eating more juicy fruits, lots of orange juice.
Started eating more honey.
Started sitting naked infront of my halogen heater.
Avoiding all Veggie oil, and PUFA's as much as i can.

All i can say is that I've never felt better, my skin is glowing, my hair is stronger and i can actually see hair regrowth near the hairline, my nails are so strong that its hard for me to clip them off, i need less sleep , have much less brain fog, im less stressed and less angry, my libido is higher and i can get boners after of 10 seconds of hugging.

And one last thing that is worth it all, i took 3 solid shits in 1 day for the first time in my adult life.

I hope to learn more and improve my diet and lifestyle even more.

Thank you guys for all the great information here and bless peat
