“The bad news is that heavy metals do indeed enter plants from contaminated soils. The metals are picked up by the roots and distributed throughout the entire plant including the nectar and pollen. The amount of metal in the plant increases with the amount of metal in the soil. Also, in regions where there is a significant amount of lead in the air, it may land on the plant and adhere to the sticky surfaces of pollen.”

“Scientists from Canada and the United States are using honey from neighborhood beekeepers to test for the presence of heavy metal pollution – a new application of a technique that uses isotope analysis to search for low levels of lead, zinc, copper and other elements.

The study is thought to be the first of its kind in North America using honey as a biomonitor. It was led by researchers at the University of British Columbia, including Kate Smith, who is the first author and a Ph.D. student, and Oregon State University.

Results of the research were published this week in Nature Sustainability.“

“The study focused on beehives in six neighborhoods in Vancouver, British Columbia. The researchers say honey collected from local hives provides a good indication of nearby conditions because honeybees typically utilize pollen and nectar within a range of 1-2 miles.”

“The researchers found traces of lead in the honey, but those isotopic fingerprints did not match any local, naturally occurring lead sources, suggesting a fairly clean local environment. However, some of the honey – as well as trees they tested in Vancouver’s Stanley Park – revealed isotopic fingerprints with some lead that was chemically similar to aerosols, ores and coal from large Asian cities.“

I remember an old methylation diagram that I keep as a treasure map and it claims that zinc, vitamin C, adequate potassium, molybdenum could help against candida and aldehydes.

I think a remedy called Hepar Sulph is helping with the fungal part. I´ts probably also very peat approved since it´s prepared by trituration of sulphide of calcium obtained by burning the white interior of oyster shells with pure flowers of sulphur. Hepar Sulph - Homeopathic Medicine: Its Uses, Indications and Dosage
This is some interesting stuff @ richofden
It is inexpensive too!….

“It has a marked action on eyes and nasal membranes where it helps to reduce its inflammation. Next, it has great action on throat where it helps to reduce its inflammation and relieve pain associated with it. When it comes to the respiratory system, it has strong affinity to treat cough, asthma, bronchitis and pneumonia. Lastly, it has deep effect on skin where it aids in healing eruptions and lumps with pus discharges.“

“Homeopaths prescribe Hepar sulph. for colds, coughs, sore throats, croup , abscesses, earaches, inflamed cuts and wounds, asthma , arthritis, emphysema , herpes, constipation , conjunctivitis, Candida albicans infections, syphilis , sinusitis, and skin infections.“

“Are Le Creuset baking sheets non toxic?
Le Creuset Bakeware

Their aesthetically pleasing collection is made of enameled cast iron. The coating is composed of “non-toxic metallic oxide particles suspended in a glass matrix,” so no harmful chemicals over here folks — only even heating, stain resistance, and a 5-year warranty to back up their quality.”

“Teflon laced with something called perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA), is one of the biggest offenders when it comes to toxic bakeware. This chemical, mostly found in cheaper nonstick options, breaks down into our food in just a few minutes when overheating. So much so that the International Agency for Research on Cancer has classified PFOA as possibly carcinogenic to humans.”

“Many of us have old Teflon non-stick baking sheets lying around. But their safety is controversial, all thanks to this four-letter problem—

PFAS, which includes PFOA and GenX. They’re the slippery chemicals used to make Teflon baking sheets non-stick.

Now, researchers claim ingesting old, chipped-off Teflon is harmless.

Instead, it’s the fumes to worry about.

When a baking sheet reaches 464°F (240°C), the PFOA starts breaking down. Then, the coating off-gasses toxic fumes into the air.

And tests show you can reach this temperature in 60-90 seconds.

The EPA’s limited findings shows inhaled Teflon fumes link to:

Flu-like symptoms (Teflon Flu).
Immune system damage
Thyroid disruption
Certain cancers
Thousands of pet bird deaths
& effects on the liver & blood, to name a few.
Even worse, Teflon’s so-called safer replacements. That leads us to—

The “misleading” stuff:

After the risks of Teflon came to light, manufacturers replaced PFOA with GenX. That’s why today, you’ll read “PFOA-free” in the description of most non-stick cooking products.

But, “PFOA-free” does not mean Teflon-free.

It means the Teflon contains GenX instead of PFOA.

And EPA studies on GenX show adverse effects on the liver, blood, reproductive organs, kidneys, and more.

So, avoid all traditional non-stick cookie sheets. They’re not the safest bakeware to use, especially with high heat, as they can emit toxic fumes.“

“Avoid scratching aluminum baking pans with metal utensils or abrasive scrubbers. Doing so increases leaching.

Instead, use silicone or wood utensils.

Also, line the baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone mat.”

“As You Sow has conducted independent laboratory testing of over 469 chocolate products for lead and cadmium. Based on the results of our testing, which found 285 of the 469 chocolate products tested contain lead and/or cadmium above California’s MADLs, we filed legal notices with over 20 companies, including Trader Joe’s, Hershey’s, Mondelēz, Lindt, Whole Foods, Kroger, Godiva, See’s Candies, Mars, Theo Chocolate, Equal Exchange, Ghirardelli, and Chocolove, for failing to warn consumers that their chocolate products contain cadmium or lead, or both.”

“A U.S. House Subcommittee of Economic and Consumer Policy review of internal documents and test results from 7 of the largest U.S. baby food manufacturers found high levels of toxic metals in both conventional and organic baby food products, including:

  • HappyBABY (Nurture, Inc.)
  • Beech-Nut (Beech-Nut Nutrition Company)
  • Earth’s Best Organic (Hain Celestial Group)
  • Gerber
  • Plum Organics (Campbell Soup Company)
  • Parent’s Choice (Walmart private brand)
  • Sprout Organic Foods (Sprout Foods, Inc.)
Internal company documents show the companies allowed dangerously high levels of toxic heavy metals that far exceeded the levels permitted under existing regulations for other products, such as bottled water.“

“For those people trying to lower their iron levels and not being able to take aspirin or vitamin E, this may be a safer alternative. I am not sure cranberries are very Peaty, but they are probably safer in terms of causing GI bleeding than both aspirin and vitamin E.”

“Filtered coffee can remove from 78 to 90 percent of dissolved heavy metals such as lead and copper from tap water, providing coffee lovers with a healthier drink, an international scientific team in Sydney, Australia has found.

Toxic metals like copper and lead get into drinking water from storage tanks, copper pipes and solder, and from natural sources, says Dr. Mike McLaughlin who works with the Land and Water division of the Australian government research arm, Commonwealth Scientific Industrial Research Organization (CSIRO).

The softer the water, the higher the level of heavy metals in solution is likely to be. Both copper and lead have long-term effects on humans, and lead is strongly linked to intellectual impairment, especially in infants and young chldren.

But coffee grounds have a remarkable ability to mop up the heavy metal atoms, research by the Australian, Chilean and US scientists shows. Their findings could mean that daily human exposures to heavy metals in many cities around the world may have been greatly over-estimated. This could mean that current public health risk assessment models are inaccurate where coffee forms a large proportion of water consumption.“

“Since purslane is so efficient at being able to extract healthy minerals from deep soils in undisturbed areas, it should be kept in mind that if purslane is growing in soils that might contain heavy metals, such as in dump sites or industrial areas, it could potentially accumulate undesirable minerals that could be unhealthy to ingest. When it comes to safely foraging wild foods, healthy soils equal healthy eating.”

“Chlorella with cilantro need to be taken 3 times a day for up to 3 months. According to various studies that heavy metal chelation using cilantro and chlorella can naturally remove an average of 87% of lead, 91% of mercury, and 74% of aluminumfrom the body within 45 days.”

“So the common non-magnetic stainless steels have better corrosion resistance than the common magnetic grades because they have more chromium and molybdenum. For the technically minded, in the non-magnetic grades the atoms are lined up in a crystal structure known as austenite.”

“Nonstick pans that have been scratched or chipped … can leach millions of microplastics into our food,” the New York physician warns in the video.”

“Cast iron, stainless steel, glass and enamel-coated cast-iron pans are appropriate alternatives, according to sustainable living site goingzerowaste.com.

Concern over microplastics has grown in recent years, with some known to include per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), also known as forever chemicals, named for their resistance to breakdown over time. PFAS are found in typical non-stick cookware and have been blamed for multiple health concerns. One Italian study even blamed the tiny terrors for a decrease in penis size.”
