Can someone tell me Michael Polanyi’s political views? I suck at politics and just don’t understand where he stands? Is it similar to Ray? Like, not right or left and very anti authoritarian?
I love his work but I really don’t want him to be a communist ?

I emailed Ray and asked him.
Here is his response -
“Outside of immediate issues of science, his world seemed to be shaped by fear of, and oppostition to, communism, leading him to be involved with the CIA’s front organization, Congress for Cultural Freedom. He seems to have believed that they really represented the ideas of freedom and culture that they said they supported, while backing the ideas up with nuclear threat, coups, and assassinations around the world.” - Ray Peat (15 December 2020 via email)
