Weaning off Keppra

I am reaching out on behalf of my sister, who had a baby born via c section due to the baby’s oxygen dropping during labor. The baby was found to have had some number of strokes, and was put on Keppra when just a few days old due to the elevated risk of seizures in children who have had strokes.

The doctor is not okay with baby being weaned from the drug, however, some research seems to show, mainly through Georgi Dinkov’s blog, that there may be more natural and still effective ways to keep possible seizures at bay. Baby was/is a healthy weight, eats well. He is quite healthy. Nurses exclusively.

Does anyone have any knowledge or experience regarding how to go about weaning from the drug, as well as utilizing Vitamin D and Progesterone.

Is there any changes made in the body after being on Keppra that needs to be protected against when weaned from the drug?

Any thoughts or information is greatly appreciated, but of course will not be taken as medical advice 😊

These are the articles that mention D and Progesterone.
