Hey so we get gulcose from carbs in terms of best source but we can get it from protein or fat and convert it. My question is some things like say red light or infared light increase atp but they use up glocuse. I know increasing thyroid function helps with glyogen stores but why would it use up glcouse isn't that bad? why would increasing atp reduce waste of glocuse and help get it into cells? I know estrogen wastes glucose.

Do you mean "why is increasing ATP production a good thing even if it means more glucose is used in the process"?

If yes - because
1. ATP is the main direct energy source for many cell functions
2. Glucose (and fat or protein) cannot be used directly as energy source for metabolic processes and needs first to be "converted" to ATP.
3. ATP cannot be stored (therefore capacity to produce ATP fast on demand is beneficial)
