I want to take Cyproheptadine for longtime therapy against HIGH ACTH.

Is it safe to take 24 mg in divided doses on a daily basis ?

It's probably safe, normally people take smaller dose. is there a reason to take that dosage long term?

I take it against pituitary tumor aka Cushings disease as described…

If you have never used it before, it takes a week of use for the drowsiness to go away and would work up to 24mg. The most I took in one day was 36mg, I took a gram over 12 months, had no problems.

(For about 2-3wks now) I take daily, 1mg half-hour before bed. It has a long lasting drowsiness effect.

I cant fathom 24mg for even One Day. Sounds like a colossal dose. Even gradually increasing over months.
More research required.

i tried 2 mg every second hour today and I felt lower stress but no drowsiness:) i took 12 mg, I take it against Cushings disease, pituitary gland tumor

Have you looked into bromocriptine or lisuride as well?

Wow that's crazy high cortisol if you can take that much without drowsiness. I took 0.5 mg last night and slept 9 hours almost straight thru even dreamt that I was roaming around my house half asleep lol.

Have you looked into bromocriptine or lisuride as well?

If i recall. Those two have a higher Risk/Benefit Ratio ?

For some reason... my research over time Indicated Cipro being preferable, short & long term.

I think bromocriptine was what is prescribed for pituitary tumors and lisuride has less side effects and different half life than bromocriptine. Also that cyproheptadine is synergistic with the two substances. It's probably true that cypro is safer.
