When I was in the hospital I was given an IV full of flagyl and aztreonam, since I am allergic to nearly all antibiotics. I was there for four days, and although I still felt awful I realized that some of the tremulousness I was experiencing was gone. This led me to believe -- along with the fact that my gallbladder was severely infected -- that I have some kind of abdominal infection -- potentially an anaerobic infection and that *maybe* if I got more antibiotics I could kill it and get better.
I have a doctor's appointment and the opportunity to ask for more antibiotics. I was thinking about asking for exactly the same thing but I know flagyl is very toxic and I'm hesitating to ask for it. Is there a reasonable alternative to it? I can't find anything on the internet that suggests one.
What kills anaerobes?
