Sounds like you have a good plan. I'm researching policosanol as well for my husband who has cardiovascular disease, sounds very promising. He's currently on the statins which makes me so sad.
I know what you mean about doctors. My husband's doctor won't raise his thyroid meds even though we know his hypothyroidism is directly impacting his cholesterol ratio.
Doctors are more often than not just terrible. My doctor refuses to prescribe me t3 because she “doesn’t work with that”! She also won’t refer me to one who does.
I hope it goes well with your husband. I’m going to start policosanol next month, I suppose.

It's infuriating when doctors behave like that (which is often sadly). I'm sorry you have to deal with that, it's not right.
