Macrobiotics is a WOE that says foods have energies, either yin or yang, which affect a person's physical overall well being. It says grains are the most "balanced" foods along with cooked vegetables and restricts most animal foods for either being too constrictive/yang (meat) or expanding/yin (sugar).

To better understand the macrobiotic philosophy, you might read this article that describes some of the personality traits and diseases people who are too "yin" have; it has some cross-over ideas that resonate with being hypothyroid:

The article also states that fruit, aspirin, milk, and regular discussion of sex are "too yin" for most people, and that most people "require" eggs and meat every day in order to be balanced.
